Thumbs up New SD9 purchase and thoughts

Hi All,

Purchased a new SD9 for my wife and I. Was able to finally get to the range last weekend. 1st clip was scattered about the target, no BE. 2nd clip was all in black with 2 BE at 25 yards. Must say I am very pleased with the gun overall, although my wife did have a FTF during one of her clips, but that was the only one. Have shot handguns before, but this is the first purchase. We are hooked and I will probably be getting another SD9 or SD40 in the near future. The range officer also ran a few rounds through it and was very impressed. He wants to shoot it again the next time we are back which will be sooner rather than later. Kids also has a blast with their new Rossi Trifecta shooting the .22LR. Great time!! More to come, take care all.

Congrats on both your purchase and for obviously being a great parent! The only thing better than a new handgun is taking the kiddies out shooting.

FX1, great news about the SD1.

Your wife may have been limp wristing. (Google Limp Wrist) I had the same problem once at the range a few months ago. Since I have corrected it. Have not had any problems.

Shoot often.

I beleive that was the issue. The range officer came over and gave her/us some pointers on stance, holding the gun and trigger squeeze. No problems after that. We are going to have a 500 round day the next outing, we only put around 150 through the 1st time. Man that was FUN!! Thanks HspncElvis. Thank you very much ;-) (In my best King impersenation!)

Great to hear about the family at the range having fun, especially you and the wife, that hits home. I grew up around guns, haven't done much with them for a long time, the wife hated 'em, (past tense intentional), with the world the way it's seems to becoming, one day she though maybe we should have some security, took the CCW class, she got a S&W 'J' frame, I got a Sigma. Still had an old .22 rifle my dad got me when I was about 10, my son has been using it, got him a Ruger .22 Single Six. WE have all been having fun since. Most kids, (mine are 24, 21, 16), don't really want to 'hang' with mom and dad, but have NO problem telling their friends that they where with the old folks at the range SHOOTING! The last time we where there my oldest daughter's friends came, bought a small arsenal with 'em, an AK74, 12 gauge among the toys. He offered to let the wife shoot the 12 gauge, (she's all of 4'11", 100lbs), I'm thinking, "nothing could go wrong here", I was chuckling to my self, he stood behind her just in case, she fire it, turned with a HUGE smile saying "WHOA, can I do that again?", she was a bit sore the next day but said it was a "good sore". She said while watching Sarah Palin's Alaska, "now I know what she means when she says she likes the smell of gunpowder". Ain't it great.

We went shooting both days this weekend with the kids. Man, I had forgotten how much fun it is. Grew up around shotguns and rifles, but didn't have time during college and after graduation moved and didn't have any hunting spots. Son is now getting old enough and wants to start hunting. Wife had never shot but wanted a pistol. We kind of lucked into the SD9 because it was on sale for $399 when we were looking at youth guns. Now anytime I mention going to the range, they are already in the truck. I will have to buy another pistol so I can stop being my wife's loader! Thinking about another SD9 or maybe an MP9 if the price is right. Also a .22LR because shooting the 9 all day could get rather expensive. Can't wait to go back, we are hooked and loving it! Take care all and good shooting!!
