alpine25,
Thanks, but, no thanks. We're just getting in to the juicy
part of the storm, and I'd have to stand out by the highway
to shoot at any targets. The blowing and drifting is getting
into full stride.
Glad you got to go, though, and esp. with your Dad, It doesn't
get much better than that. TACC1

We down here in South Florida brave the hot sun, everyday. That's why there are so many indoor rifle & gun ranges.

Down East Maine Winter Follies in the works
For those of you within driving distance, the 8th Annual Frozen Mosins Military Rifle Shoot will be held on this coming Sunday, February 7th, 2011. Location is the Pleasant River Fish & Game Association range in Columbia Falls, Maine.
Soviet-era rifles are preferred, with the Mosin-Nagant the main category, but any classic military rifle is welcome.
Cost to compete is $5, which includes a hot meal of black bread, borscht, and probably hot dogs, soda, cheeseburgers, chips, etc. Usually a cool T-shirt is available for a few bucks more.
For the couch potatoes, a synopsis will probably be on You Tube by early next week.
What snow storm?

I went approximately 200 yards into the woods behind my house and test fired 4 rounds of some handloads I was working on. Does that count?

Fortunately, we were missed up here in Minnesota by this big one. Actually, I don't go out much in the winter and shoot. At thirty six below it takes five minutes for the bang to thaw out. Now I feel like a wuss. Of course, at zero visibility one can claim just about any accuracy, can't they. MLK18, is that weapon dressed in white camo?

Clumsily dropping rounds into the snow while reloading my revolvers with speed strips during timed shots at multiple silhouettes because of my cold numbed fingers makes me rethink revolver versus automatic.

With cold hands, I'd rather drop rounds into a cylinder than try to stuff them into my M&P mags. Even under perfect conditions those are tough for me to load.

48 degrees huh. It's -26 here with windchill. And I don't even think it's that cold outside. When you walk out your front door and you eyes start to freeze shut because your tears instantly become ice, then it's cold.

62 and breezy yesterday
southside VA. Go figure.
Was cleaning out/reorganizing range bag and discovered 2 extra boxes of WWB, so what the hey, excuse found.
Worked on weak side slow fire exercise, but I just couldn't seem to get my #$% together.

80 degrees here in SW Florida and headed to the range in shorts and a T shirt. Next week I go to the mountains in Colorado. 32 below there right now.

You are a S&W Forum member, you don't have a weak side. You have a strong side and a dominant strong side.

I went out shooting in the blizzard, but not my handguns & not at the range! It was still a "blast"!
