I recently won a new XD 357 Sig at a PPC match. I have not fired it ...yet. I did buy some target and SD (125gr GDHP) ammo for it.
357 Sig ammo is EXPENSIVE! So, I've decided to get a 40 and/or 9mm barrel for it.
I'm not so sure that I'd be able to shoot well enough to tell the difference in accuracy between a "fit" barrel and a drop in barrel. It is a 4" gun after all and I can really only expect so much. From what I can tell, $100 or so for drop in and $200 for fit. The Springfield custom shop will fit and test a 40 barrel for $190, all inclusive.
So, what do you all think? And where to get it from?

Thanks.

Since the 357 Sig is based on the XD-40, I'd go with the 40 caliber. You'll have to check with Springfield to confirm it but I think that the 357 Sig mags are the same as the 40 caliber mags. I have four 40 caliber shooters and my experience is that it's every bit as accurate as a 9mm and the cost for the ammo is very reasonable.

+1. .40 uses same mags, and factory fit takes out all the worry about those little drop-in glitches that nobody brags about.
Going cheap is exciting until the odd malfunctions happen and the warranty went south.
