Default felt good to shoot!!!!!!

Just a few lines about shooting this weekend...Man it felt great to get out and shoot the ol sig...I shot really well, and the gun didnt even hiccup...shot about 175 rounds through it flawlessly....I was shooting low, and I sanded down my front sight and its pretty much dead on now up and down....side to side is really close to, but I adjusted that the last time I shot...about 4 inch groups at 8 yards, and 5ish at 10yards..shot a few from 12 yards and a couple were quite off, but I reeled them in and got a nice 5ish group of 8...I love this gun BTW!!!
My BIL just got a sig 40 and was shooting low and to the right, we adjusted the rear and got it lined up and he is gonna sand his front sight to to get the shots up....BTW his brand new 40 shot flawlessly also....
Just wanted to type about it lol, just felt good to pop some rounds..
anyone else shoot over the weekend???

Well, I finally got a chance to pop off a few rounds Saturday also, and took along my 13 year old grandson for his first time shooting pistols. I decided to bring 4 other pistols for him to fire as well besides my 9VE; a 999 HR, 622 S&W, my old .45 Hand Ejector S&W and my (new to me) Bersa 45. We started off with .22 revolver and then weaned him to the .22 autoloader. He loved that! I did have some problems later on with light strikes with that 622. The firing pin channel had some crud in it that I cleaned out when we got back home. Next I let him shoot the 9mm Sigma and he did a fine job with it. Then we shot my old .45 Auto Rim revolver a few times. He also did very well with it. I saved the Bersa until last. Wow, I must have got some rank nasty .45 ACP ammo (WWB 230 gr. FMJ and some old FMJs I had for 40 years). That pistol smoked almost as much as my old cap and ball .44 black powder revolver does with each shot. Even my grandson noticed the difference between them and the other pistols/ammo we were shooting. The gun itself functioned fine, but I was surprised at the smoke it left behind after each shot myself. It had a healthy kick to it compared to the .45 revolver we had too, but that was to be expected because it was smaller and lighter. Much louder than anything else we shot too. It even made my deaf old ears ring. (Yes the grandson had my ear muffs on) My grandson also took all the empty brass and his shot up paper target back home with him as souvenirs. Maybe I'm being prejudice, but I enjoyed shooting the Smiths more than anything.

In my experience, Ive found most people who need to sand a front sight down because they are shooting low is not because of the gun or the load. Its from a flinch, even a very mild one.

If you're only getting 4ish inch groups at 8 yards AND they are hitting low, then it looks more like its time to start doing ball-and-dummy drills and dry fire as often as possible. Or pick up a .22 and focus as hard as you can on the fundamentals.

I think its worth more to practice more, even dryfire, before going and sanding down your gun.

I got to hit the range on Friday. Brought my girl friend with me, we were shooting my new m&p 45 compact. We dumped exactly 100 rounds through it and had a great time. I was shooting very well with it as well as my girlfriend. Shes new to shooting so I was spending most of my time teaching her. She was flinching a little at first but was shooting well near the end. All around good time!!!!

Default ANOTHER Reason I Love This Forum!!

I find that going to the range really lightens up my mood.
Always feel better after shooting something. Put your everyday hassles on hold and get a fresh perspective. Lots of like-minded folks here.
Last time it was a .380. a 317 in 22lr, and a 44Mag. Next trip, .45auto.
.38 Hammerless, and a .25acp. Life is great.
