SD9VE: Removing trigger pivot pin help?
Hey Folks,
I recently purchased an SD9VE knowing full well just how bad the stock trigger pull feels. Before I even picked the gun up (I'm in CA so have to "cool off" for ten days after purchase) I ordered the Apex spring set for it.
Following the Apex online video the first problem I encountered was that the rear frame pin was not like the one on the gun they were showing. Again, mine's the silly CA model with the LCI and MD, which may explain that difference. The pin on this gun was larger diameter and knurled on the left side, thus, it had to be removed right-to-left. Easy enough, but not the main problem.
THEN... I tried using their pusher tool to remove the trigger pivot pin. No dice. Their video shows it popping out pretty easily and only being retained by the spring pressure in the grooves of the pin. After not being able to remove it from the right side, I tried the opposite. Still no luck. I tapped on the tool (lightly) with a plastic-tipped mallet, but still couldn't get that pin to move more than one mm or so in either direction. I did wiggle the slide catch lever while trying to remove the pin in both directions. Wasn't happening.
So what am I doing wrong? This is not going to be a carry gun, but rather, just one of the many plinking toys, so I'm not worried about having it modified slightly.
This is my first post after my intro so I made sure I searched the forum extensively for my answer before posting. But I'm coming up empty.
Help???
Thank you,
Tom.
