How much$ could I get for my 9ve?

I am not a pawn broker but probably about a 1/4 of what it would retail for:eek: . I would just buy the gun I wanted and sale this one to someone else

If they offer you $50, keep it. That way you have two guns, and one only 'cost' $50... :D

My brother in law ran a pawn shop, spent boring afternoons there killing time. Believe me you, given value of a good, albeit used, sigma is near and around $200-$225. Look hard, most folks can pick em up for $150-$175. Pawn shop is going to assume that you're wanting money on the run and offer you what has been said, I.e, $50. Their markup is going to be 200% for resale. So, as the poster above me said, better off keeping it till you can find a buddy or someone who will buy it from you for what it's worth. Your sigma has gotta mean more to you than $50.

My local pawn offered me $75 around a year ago. I kept it and I'm glad I did. It's a great little gun, light, comfortable for carry great ergonomics. Not the best shooter out there, least not in my hands, but I'll buy another gun sure, but I'm holding onto my 40ve.

$75 that's all?

Simple economics: They buy the weapon at a loss to the seller, then mark it up to what it's worth is. If the gun is worth $200-$250, they won't buy it for that, because they prefer to sell to new buyers at a ridiculous markup, like 200%. so, they offer $50-$75 depending on the shop, put a tag on it for $200, and screw the original owner outta $150. That's how they make a profit. Trade ins at a LGS are worth more cuz you're buying from them, like store credit. Pawn shops are a great place to find a gem to BUY for cheap, but I wouldn't recommend SELLING to them.

Current distributor wholesale on NIB Sigmas is currently in the $250 range......no dealer is going to give you anywhere close to that amount on a used gun....they still have to resell at a profit plus pay the taxes and light bill and rent....used Sigmas sell around here for $225-$250 either over the counter or person to person....either YOU can get that amount, or let a dealer get that amount, but not BOTH.

Never sell to a pawn shop, unless you are desperate for money. Your better off selling to a private party.

Trading in a gun is like trading in a car. You lose because they have to make money for it to be worth their time and investment. It is always better to direct sell anything than trade in. You might be able to do a local sale and get what you want. I doubt you will do well if you have to ship and pay FFL fee's.

+1. This is a shorter version than what I wrote, but correct.

Actualy it was at my local gun and pawn, they're a great little shop, probably 3 times as much new product as used and I was looking to trade I believe but can't remember. Probably not the best location for selling a Sigma though. They are pretty close to the Boeing plant and all Boeing security carry Sigmas and there is a bit of a surplus of used Sigmas around here. In the upside I can pick used Sigma mags for my 40ve for cheap, they've got boxes of them.

If you can afford to...keep it, and grab some spare mags dirt cheap. If the Sigma is common in your area the prices will reflect that. Sell it on line (FFL to FFL). You'll get more than trying locally. Around here sometime back, P.D. changed over to semi auto's (Sigs) and S&W 586's were allowed to be purchased by officers. Soon after they started showing up in LGS's and flooded the used market for a few years. I bought one (wished I had bought a dozen) for cheap. Could sell them for decent money now.

They're pure worthless junk. Couldn't deal with that horrible trigger. Give you $50. for it. :D

$50.00 for a S&W Sigma????????? I'll give you 2 dollars for it if you pay shipping. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOps,did I say that????? [joking]

On occassion Ill go to a gun show and take one of my guns and ask how much i can get on a trade for say "that gun there." I get offered about 1/4 of what I see the same gun sell for. I will then ask a dealer if he wants to buy my gun outright no trade and the offer comes up to about 40% of what he sells them for. I do this just to see how little one can get at gun shows or trade ins. Your better off taking it to the store, asking them to sell it on consignment and paying them 20%. they can get a lot more than we can and when they sell it, they do a background check and we dont have to worry about selling our gun to some druggies, gang bangers or other creature who wont use it properly....

My local gun dealer generally gives about 70% of what he could buy it for new. For example my dad just got $300 for his Kahr CW9 which is their cheapest 9mm. If you take it to a pawn shop you aren't going to get anything close to what you should. If you sell it used privately you could probably get $225 to $250(I see people trying to sell them for close to 300 all the time:eek:). Guns, even cheap ones, hold their value pretty well. I recently sold my Hi-Point that I purchased new for 150 for 125 bucks and I got dozens of phone calls from people wanting to buy it.
