Default painting my slide

I am thinking about turning this:

IMG_0162.jpg

Into something like this:
glock1.jpg

Just wanting to do slide and leave frame alone. Any thoughts or concerns?

Lord don't let it be purple! It's your gun, worst case you can always strip it back down.

Was going to do it for my wife. I have another gun just like it so this one would become hers and hers alone.

Everyone who has used duracoat swears by it....I'm personally not a fan of "painting" a slide...I'm all cool for different colors, but the word painting, and gun don't sit well with me.....

I recently Duracoated a Makarov, the adjustable sight version. It turned out all right, but it does tend to fill in the lettering and I have no idea how it will hold up over the long run. I felt forced to do it because the gun shoots so well, but the existing finish was just so bad.

I'm considering duracoating the top of my slide black. I think black & high polish would be sweet.

That is how S&W styled the S&W SW9P (new generation ported 9mm). It has a flat black top with polished stainless sides. Pretty sweet.

Go ahead give it a shot if it doesn't look good you can always sand off the paint and polish it

Or use Photoshop to start. Changing the color of electrons is easier.

That's the look I'm after. I'll get my good drill bits out and charge up the cordless drill of the porting.

Unfortunately the SW9P was already out and discontinued. After the original Sigma series they came out with the SW9E, SW9P and SW9G. They were all identical to the newest version the SW9VE, but Smith spent a little more money on cosmetics. For example the SW9E came with a melonite coated barrel and slide as well as night sights. The SW9VE was created to reduce production costs and retail pricing. That's why everyone thinks the "V" stands for value, when it really stands for stainless. The ported models still come up for sale from time to time.

I really like that black-top slide..sharp gun. My SD is all melonite/black, don't guess turning the top or middle of the slide would be easily changed to silver/stainless...?

just my 0.02...

we do a lot of duracoat jobs as well as hydrodipping and the hydro is more durable and has more patterns too so you can get really creative

I had my Ruger P90 done with skulls on the slide:

**I don't know if you are familiar with hydrodipping or not, but it is not paint, it is a film that bonds to the surface via the hydro process.

Love the grip on the skull-gun.But in that picture - to me- it looks like the last inch or so at the muzzle curves downward. I know it's an opticalistic illusionary but...

Found a couple nicer pics of the SW9P and thought I would share. Starting to wish I would have bought one just for the slide (porting on a 9mm is highly unnecessary). By the way the one in the pics sold on AA for $261.

Man! That's a sweet looking piece. One of these days I will have the only SW40VEP. Duracote, milling machine, some drill bits, and I'll have it.
