Weight attachment

Anyone know if you can buy any kind if a weight system that can be use on the attachment rail on the SD40VE , my thinking is it may reduce the muzzle flip when shooting.

There isnt any wieghts unless you rig something up, buy a rail system that goes above and below the pistol off ebay and attach 2 flashlight/lasers and that will be enough to reduce a 40 pretty well.

Try a firmer grip also or change up your grip until the rise isnt as substantial. Practice practice practice

UPDATE!!! I found exactly what you are looking for.
SJC Glock Frame Weight
Its pricey at $80 but its a 5.7 ounce wieght for controlling muzzle rise and recoil and attaches by pistol rail

Here's how to reduce muzzle flip with a .40 cal pistol...switch to 9mm or .45 ACP.

Way ahead of you on that one have had the other calibers you mentioned for years, now do you have any ideas on the suggestion I have posted?

Just being snarky, don't mind me . I wish I had an idea for you but I gave up on .40, it's a fine caliber, I'm just no good with it because of the flip. My guess it that the front weight would help as well as maybe trying some different loads. There has to be something out there that isn't so snappy.

I posted the only device i could find, and i stumbled apon it by accident. I might pick up a few other things off their site for my RangeMaster SD9VE make it the first SD racegun

I know years ago there was a high dollar 22 target pistol that use to come with weights you could attach to the barrel , wish they made something along those lines to tame down a 40 caliber.

Or a pair of scope rings for the rail with a piece of solid steel. can also be stainless, it just have to fit the scope rings diameter. The weight can be adjusted by the length.

If you use scope rings with 30mm diameter and use a stainless steel rod of 65mm length and 30mm diameter you would have an additional weight of about 12.72oz plus the weight of the scope rings. I would go with a 31mm rod to make sure it's clamped down properly. You can get the scope rings for about $11 - $12 from Brownells. I have no clue how much the steel rod would be. But if you know someone who works in a metal shop you could probably get that piece for free and just have to turn it down on a lathe to the diameter you need.

With the given weight of 22.7oz for the SD40VE (S&W Website) you would end up with a total weight of 35.42oz +/- ammo in the mag. I don't know if the posted weight for the SD40VE is for the empty gun or for a loaded one. The Model 67 with 4"bbl is posted with 36oz.

Or with the scope rings just use a 1" maglight and fill with washers or pennies-if no rod can be found

A firm two hand hold and proper technique.

If you want more weight purchase an alloy framed gun. There's plenty of used S&W autos out there at reasonable prices.
