Default SD9VE and SD40VE Picture Thread

I've been trolling in out of this forum from the M&P15-22 forum and noticed no one has started a picture thread for the SD.

So i'm going to start one with my SD9VE:

What's nice about the M&P gun's is they have so many accessories and after market parts available.

Different options like frame colors, threaded barrels and changeable back straps.

Don't think you will see many pics. other than stock guns on here, maybe with a different grip of some type or a polished slide and maybe sights.

To early for the SDVE guns.

They have some nice looking guns over there.

Dude you serious? I was just simply implying it would be nice to see other SD's with lasers or lights on it. As you can see some folks have those types of accessories. This thread is to see what others do to their pistols and maybe get a few ideas

I have a routine of dry firing my sd9 to improve accuracy. Would one of these laser lights help me with that? To be honest, I have never seen one used. Are they easy to dial in?

That would be a raven concealment light bearing holster for the M&P 9/40 with TLR1 mounted. Cost was roughly 130$

IF you like the holster and want a less expensive option look into bravo concealment. Same holster just the company is not affiliated with magpul in any way so its about 40$ less.

If I was going to do it all again I would go through bravo concealment

If you order from either company there will be a long wait... My friend has a holster on order from bravo concealment that has a 10-12 week lead time.

Here is a link to each website.

Bravo concealment is AMAZING!.

I ordered a OWB/IWB holster for my G22 with a TRL-2 light for a GSSF comp. Guy got back to me 3 hours later and said his turn around time was 30 days.

As the comp got closer and closer I got more worried and asked him how it was going.

He said he couldnt find his TRL2 and didnt think he could buy another for a while. I asked if I could get one without the space for the light any faster.......He dropped everything he was doing and made me a stock IWB/OWB holster without the light THAT NIGHT! Overnight shipped it and I had it the day of the competition! .

Awesome guy over at bravo. They've had my business for a LONG time.

Are you asking for the why of the light or the holster or both?

mine isn't anything special. No lasers or lights. But it's my EDC and it fits the bill nicely.

I did add a set of traction grips. and plan on changing the sights to a set of Williams Firesights.

I found that getting the 16th round in the mag of my SD9VE was almost impossible, until I got a speedloader from Amazon for $9.75; now it's a breeze! http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B...ilpage_o06_s00

Hey micocyco,
I am able to get 16 in my mag once they get some use. I have a brand new 3rd mag that I have to settle for 15 right now.
One note: the mag you show in your picture doesn't look like an SD base plate. Is that possibly a SIGMA mag?

Good eye Smiffer, the box does not say & sign where it was hanging said SD 9 it's mod# 25095, they have not been easy to find. The range & gun shop I use just happened the have just this one at a time I was there. Of the 2 that came with it I can on a day I really want to try I can get 16 in but can't tell the one it is I have tried to use them the same.
Going to get that auto loader above for 30 bucks & I have never been one to care a lot about what people think. I will just thorw it right in the wifes range bag

I used Liquid Fire see link below.

Acid etched the slide.

I was shooting for a camo. type pattern.

Cox Hardware and Lumber - Liquid Fire Drain Opener (Sizes)

I totally stripped slide and highly polished it with automotive sandpaper 400 and ended with 1500.

Then used mother's mag polish and then degreased slide.

Applied the liquid fire with q-utips in the pattern I wanted.

It's kind of runny so watch it, don't soak the qtip.

The longer you leave it on the deeper the etching is and darker it is.

Then I put the slide in a bowl of neutralizer till it stopped bubbling.

Make sure it covers the whole slide.

I guess you can use baking soda and water mix to stop the reaction.

Only left it on the first time for 30 seconds or so and it wore off
in about a week where it rubbed my holster.

Ended up polishing it off with mothers polish and did it again leaving it on for 3 mins.

After I take it out of the bowl I use WD-40 and drench it till
it stops soaking it up like wood soaks up a finish.

Then wipe it down degrease in acetone, oil and assemble .

Holding up well now, but not many people like it and some love it.

They say that's definitely different or what the H*** did you do to it.

I like it, so I'm keeping it this way till I get sick of it.

It has different sights now that are a lot better then the original and the modified front sight I had on it.

Thanks, 3

Added a set of Talon Grips to mine this evening. I hand cut these from a sheet. Turned out real well I think.

How do you like the talon grips? I've thought about trying a more granular type grip, I've always used the rubberized type.

Anyway, here's some pics of my pretty standard 40VE - Traction Grips, "hand painted" sights and a little foxx holster. Oh, and a decent cheap flashlight

Thanks for the info.. The rubberized grips aren't that bad to me but I can see how a more course material would improve the grip. My only concern would be irritation while carrying. My VE isn't my EDC but it does get thrown in the mix. May have to get a set of the granular just to try it out.

Talon does not cut premade grips for the SD series. They sell a sheet you can cut yourself and thats what I did. $9 free ship.

Hit the range today and took a few pics

This was my best target of the day. Targets are roughly 10 yards away.

Smile Great Pics!

Thanks for all the pics, they seem to add a lot to the forum, at least for me.

You wanted to see a laser well here you go. But I am going back to the smaller CMR-201 because the CMR-203 Green Laser is just a little to big for me, will go back as soon as I can sell this laser.

Yeah, I have the CMR-201 and it fits just right.

Even though the striker is a little scuffed up I have not had any failures out of the 1600 rounds fired. I am very happy with this pistol.

I looked and cannot find it again, but I saw somewhere on the web a picture of a SD9VE with a black barrel that was from another S&W 9. I have to say, it looked really cool, and I wouldn't mind having one. Does anyone know what barrel it might have been?

Nothing special about mine, just put a Pachmayer Tactical Grip on it. My IWB holster is a Galco King Tuk.
