I am considering selling my SD9VE and 5 mags. Has had an Apex trigger kit put in and a Galloway Precision wide body take down plate by licensed gunsmith and a TUFF1 thin blue line slip on grip. Has had about 100 rounds put down range but am only selling because I have my eye on another gun. What do you think this would be worth to offer up for sale. Heck just try and find the mags. What say ye? Thanks folks.

Hopefully it will not come as a surprise for you to find out that budget or value priced guns do not command a premium on the used market, even with upgrades. I have seen a number of used SD9VE's sell for under $250 recently in stock condition with 2 mags. With your upgrades and 5 mags I could see it selling locally for around $325, maybe a little more or maybe a little less. The SD series is still under appreciated in the gun community (and often confused by the ignorant as still being the original SW9F) which does not help with resale value. Some buyers are also scared off by trigger kits because of internet tall-tales of evil civil lawyers and anti-gun prosecutors.

Thanks for the reply 18. That is about what I thought and for those reasons. The trigger is perfect, and the tall talers are just that. I have the SD40 also and have done the same to it. These guns are highly under rated. This time next year I will have another because I will shoot it against a Glock any day. Thanks for your input.

Weird! I just purchased an SR9 as a night stand gun to replace my SD9VE. SD has maybe 500 rounds through it and is well maintained. Besides some shiny spots on the chamber hood it looks brand new. I am selling the SD and seven 16 rounders. I am also including a Blackhawk! Serpa holster and a cheap nylon double mag pouch. The SD is $319.99 at Academy here (Wichita Falls, TX) and the extra mags are $39.99. They are in stock consistently. The Serpa was around $50. The mag pouch was free. I figure I am into it for about $611. I knocked 25% off and rounded down. I don't do Facebook but my wife has one and I have joined a couple of local gun trader groups on there. That is where I listed the gun for $450. I probably could have asked for a little more as I have eight people wanting to buy it. Tomorrow morning I will probably pick the first one who is over 21 and doesn't look/act like a felon and make the sale. YMMV but I see no reason why you couldn't get $400 for it, maybe more if you include a little ammo with how hard 9mm is to find. Goodluck!

People who do not want any record of their firearms purchase are sometimes willing to pay a premium. I never heard of a Facebook gun trader group but I would presume that would be a good place to go if you didn't want any record of your firearms purchase.

it's worth what someone will pay. i recently sold my SW40VE with 4 mags. I was asking $325 (not expecting to get it). The day I put it up I got 6 or 7 offers with 3 of them offering full asking price. Because of convenience I let it go for $300.00 and still felt more than good about that. I wouldn't have paid that when I can look around and get and SD40 BRAND NEW for about the same price. But, someone was willing to pay it.

The Academy Sports nearest me still has brand new S&W SD9VE's for $289 + tax is $311 OTD.

However, they and everyone else is ****** you on the price of the magazines. Academy want's $39.99 + tax per magazine.

S&W want's $42 @. Most on line shops are selling them in the $37-$39 range + shipping.

There are a lot of groups in Facebook...for example, I am in several groups that are specific to the Dallas area, and even some that are specific to the smaller towns east of Dallas. Most allow firearm sales, some don't.

Firearms seem to command a good price on these sites, with a few bargains if the seller is desperate. I've sold a couple of guns on these groups, and got a fair price (not great but not bad.) I ask to see a Texas DL or even better, a CHL. I also ask the buyer if he can legally buy the gun. I don't require copies, but I do ask to see the license and ask the question.

There are a few who don't really seem to have an idea of gun values...there is one who recently posted a Sigma 9mm (the older model) with one magazine, no box, no papers, etc. He wants to trade only, and the only trades he is interested in are a Shield or an XDS. Oh, and he wants an EVEN trade. :p

Greg Cote LLC has them available for $34.95. He charges $6.95 for shipping, but that is a flat rate. So, if you buy several, he only charges $6.95, which is a great deal...plus he's a great guy to do business with. If you are only going to buy one magazine, then the $39.95 Academy price + tax totals $43.25, while Greg's price is $41.95, so it's still better.

I wouldn't even bother trying to sell it, they are under $300 new. Most of the FB firearm trader groups I'm a member of don't take SDVE sales seriously as the gun is so cheap new unless it's priced below $250. Even then I'd rather spend the extra $50 and get a new gun with warranty.

I wish now I had just kept mine and saved up to buy the shield I desperately wanted like frankmako stated.
