-I'm right there with ya! I picked mine up this past Wednesday around noon. Got the .40S&W myself. The trigger pull is nowhere near as bad as some are making it out to be. Now a trip to the range is in my very near future!

Congrats on your new gun as well!
I love the ergos on this gun, as I did the sigma.
Trigger pull is nice for me.

Bought one today as well. I live in MA. so it came with a 10 plus pound trigger. The shop had the APEX spring kits in stock, installed them when I got home and dropped the pull weight by a lot. I will take to the range at the end of the week. I wanted to buy a Glock but could not justifiy new gun prices for a 20 year old Gen2 gun.

-Mine is about 8 lbs or so. Plus the 2-14 round mags will be making the range trip a lot of fun! Definitely on the range reports. Nothing like the smell of gun powder in the morning!

-There is a gun shop about 45 minutes away from me that just put the SD9/40 VE on sale for $299 also. Mine was tagged for $329 when I bought it. 16 rounds of 9mm or 14 rounds of .40 S&W. It's a win/win either way!

Matt

Had my SD9VE (thinking of calling her "Sidney") for about a month now and I love it. Was initially not bothered by the trigger pull but after several range trips I want to see what effect a spring kit will have on my accuracy, which tends to pull low and to the right by a bit.
It's a fantastic firearm for the price, mine was 349 at Cabela's with two 16 rd mags.

Erich, sooo good to be in touch again amigo!
I will post a range report as soon as I can. Like the sigma, the ergos are off the chart and the trigger is noticeably easier.
I can't wait to light it up!

love my SD40VE, had it since early october and have put thousands of rounds through it. the first 300-400 you may have some fail to feed issues, polish the internals. and buff the feed ramp. it will fix it. there are a few videos out there to show you how if you do not know. she eats everything i have fed her from cheap reloads, to alum case tulammo, to my winchester ranger T-series R40TA. shes noit pick on the ammo and she still goes bang each time. couldnt be happier with the value to quality ratio in this firearm

does the apex kit make the reset comparable to glock and m&p? or just the pull weight

It's been many years since I owned my Glock...and never fired an M&P.
But owning this gun for less a month, 400 rounds with 100% stock setup, 400 rounds with Trigger AND Spring kit, it's much, MUCH less travel. And when it fires, it's done. No more extra push, it's at the hard wall.
It also travels much less to reset. And my personal preference, I like the blade style safety on a full trigger, rather than the SW hinged trigger.

much like the previous poster stated, it does cut down on travel and reset travel. my sd is stock except for the spring kit. keeps stock trigger but that may get replaced soon as well. im going to be ordering some goodies for my SD40 soon, its been pretty much stock the whole time like a EDC should be but i want a green laser and flashlight combo as well a holster able to accommodate them, also looking at some TFO night sights

Erich, I think Smith should send you a royalty check for every one they sell!
It all started for me when I read your review of the sigma a long time ago! It's still the benchmark of reviews!

-My SD40 VE has been stripped of its packing oil and given a double treatment of FrogLube. Both mags are loaded and ready. Hopefully either tomorrow or Thursday will be spent at the range...

You're too kind - I'm glad it got you interested, but the product had to set the hook!
Hey, and it turns out my wife's uncle has an M&P9 - the first pic was a shooter's-eye view, and a later pic of the slide resolved things.

always a good idea to clean before firing the first time. although with my SD i wanted to see how it was "out of the box" i was surprised it handled so well.
im going to put another 250 through mine since i just got fresh reloads from my friend glad to see so many SD owners who are happy with their purchases!

Took my SD9VE to the range today. 150 rounds no problems. Adjusted the rear site. I added some Talon rubberized grips that I cut from a sheet of Talon material. The pull is longer then my M&P's but with the Apex Spring kit it's just as crips. The reset is very tactile. The only thing I would say I did not like about the gun is the trigger is slick on the finger. My finger would slip of on recoil. Do to the pistol being lighter then the M&P it has a little more muzzle flip but it was not bad. Over all I like the gun and I think it well worth the price I paid.

-Absolutely! I have no regrets buying this pistol! I was looking at the rubberized Talon grip kit. How do you like your? That's pretty much the only thing my SD40 VE needs. Sights and trigger are just fine for me, although one day I may replace the front sight with a fiber optic one. Just something to help it pop out against the target a little better for my eyes...
L8R,
Matt

I like the Talon grips a lot. I have them on all my guns. I had bought two sheets to fix the backstraps on my M&P 9c so I just cut some of the sheet to fit the SD.

I'm sure with you as to the ergos leejack. Fits my small hands perfectly. Started saving my nickels and dimes after the first time I held one. I also like the dual tone look as well as the SS slide and barrel. Mine (also a 9mm) didn't arrive today as expected so I anxiously await Monday.

Got my new S&W SD40VE about a month ago & really liking it a lot. It's super easy to field strip for cleaning. Not even gonna think about an Apex trigger kit till I have a lot more range time.

Can one you tell me where the rear sights are sitting on yours from the factory? Mine is to the left of center.

Mine is in the center.
On my sigma it was off. I got a soft brass screw and filed it to become a drift, and tapped it back to the center.

I've had my SD9ve 2 years now Lots & lots of range time.
Took it & a bunch of reloads right from the gun show to the range.
I have done nothing but load it, shoot it, clean. I run every kind of 9mm round I can get my hands through it.
I have a friend ( no really I do ) he has a block 19, we had a little range competition, I beat him by just a little. But we swapped guns & I beat him by a lot.
I am trying to say that I think the SD9ve is a great pistol never mind the price & better still it teaches you to be a better shot.
,
Be safe & have fun

So I have to ask, whats the "VE" stand for? I couldn't find it on their website. Interested in one of these in 9mm, seems to be priced right.....
