Default SD40 question

I have a sd40 fde with crimson trace. I can't find a holster for it anywhere. Will a holster for a sd9 fit my sd40? Thanks

I would think an SD9VE and an SD40VE are identical as far as outward size. I have the 9 and at a glance, I doubt I could tell the difference in it and a .40.

Yes, externally they are identical, or close enough you can't tell them apart.

Dang, you gonna make me pull mine out and compare when I get home. I sure thought they were the same. I swear the holsters companies list the same holster for both also.

With the SIGMA series pistols. the difference is small, but the .40 magazines will not interchange with 9mm due to that small difference. Been using the Sigmas for loaners and rentals for over 20 years.
yeah, I know the mags won't interchange. They put a rib in the 9mm mag so you can't insert a 40 mag in it. Also, the 40 mags are a tad wider if I remember right. But I thought externally the guns were the same. I have a Sigma40F, Sigma 40VE, SD40, and SD9. But the OP is talking about the SD which is a bit different from the Sigma series, although the mags interchange for a given cartridge.

Ok, so, I did some comparing. The frames seem to be the same dimensions other than the inside of the mag well. The slides measure about .010" wider on the 40 slide in some locations along the length. Just for fun, I swapped slides with frames and they fit perfect and bench functioned fine.
