M59 good deal?
OK, folks, a bit out of my element here, as I'm usually more a fan of the Hand Ejectors; A friend at work has raised the possibility of selling me his "immaculate" (his word, I've not seen it yet) M59 no-dash in orig. box, 2 mags, don't know about tools or papers, and 250 rounds for $350.
Sounds like a deal to me - how 'bout y'all?

Sounds awfully tempting to me. You should check out the thread on Model 59's earlier today by 18DAI.
Good Luck,
Jerry

On the other thread, I posted that many of the early 59s had horrible problems jamming. By the third generation, they had fixed the problems and had a gun that would fire reliably under any condition (just about). That said, the gun is easily worth $350 and would be a good collector's piece. It might not feed hollowpoints; and, it might not feed anything reliably, but if you have a problem, S&W should be willing to fix the problem.
I'd be tempted to keep it as a collector's piece. It had a fine nickel job and was a beautiful gun.

I own several and at that price it's a bargain. Everyone needs a double stack 9mm in their collection.

My first and second gen pistols work perfectly. That is a great price for a 59 thats in good shape, if it truly is immaculate, I would get it.

+1 on the price. If it is really immaculate, and in the original box, this is a steal; the ammo alone is worth $50 today.

Check gunbroker or auctionarms. I kust looked and there are some available. Prices are anywhere from $300 to $600 IIRC

Been there and done that dozens of times. My experience is that about 90% of "good" guns deals fall through. It's exciting while it lasts though.
