Default 4566/4566tsw question

Am getting back to S&W steel frames-45's in particular. I have seen 4516's and 4513tsw, and noticed the lesser weight of the second model (chose the 4516). Another of the models I'm interested in is the 4566, including the tsw model, but don't understand one thing about the weight differences.
I thought the tsw models while having some added feature here & there were alloy frames that provided a lesser weight option than the all steel version of the same gun.....but in the 4566 guns I've found listed, the tsw's list at slightly heavier.Have not found one to handle yet, but am wodering why they might be heavier when an aloy frame should be less??
Thanks.

The 4566 is the shorter barrel version of the 4506. It's all steel. The TSW just adds the rail, etc. and makes it about 1 oz heavier. The 4516 is the compact all steel.

The 4563, 4583 are the alloy frame versions of that.

So, to answer you question, not all the TSW's were alloy. The model number will tell you if it's alloy or not, along with action and hammer.

I know, there's lots of versions.

Usually 3s' and 4s' at the end of third generation numbers and 4s' at the first of second generation guns means alloy frame. One big exception is the 6906/46 which is alloy framed but has the all steel number on it.
