Default Questions about S&W models 59, 459 and 659

Are the ergonomics of the S&W 659 and model 59 the same?

I checked out a well used S&W model 59 today at a gunshop and it fit my hand very well. Isn't the S&W 459 (blued) and 659 (stainless) just the next generation of the model 59? Do all of these models basically feel the same? Does the 59 have an all steel or alloy frame?

Thanks in advance

The 1st. and 2nd. generation guns share most features like grips. The 559/659 will be steel framed and about 8oz heavier then the alloy framed 59/459.

So the 459 is the identicle 2nd gen version of the 59?

I want to buy one for carry so I don't need the additional weight. Do they make a stainless/alloy version of the 459? Not really crazy about blued guns.

Besides the weight, are the dimensions the same between the 459 and 659. In other words, will the same holsters fir both weapons?

Thanks again

There is a split in second generation guns where later guns went to a square trigger guard, tight fit holsters for round guards won't fit. No stainless/alloy till third generation. Main change in second generation was adding the firing pin block and the new style adjustable sights.
