Price check on a M1006
I just found a M1006 for sale and was wondering what you guys thought. Checking previous forum listings, and current gunbroker listing, I see they range in price from $550 and up. The one I found is an adjustable sight model (Ser# starts with TEV). IMHO it rates at the top end of "very good" just shy of "excellent". There are some light scratches in the stainless and the plastic S&W grip has some scuffs. Everything seems tight and it appears to function properly. It comes with the original box and three factory mags. The scratches are just minor, not like a service gun would have. I'm more of a fixed sight auto kind of guy, but you don't find M1006's every day. Please let me know roughly what you think the current market value would be. Thanks.

I paid $700 for mine a few months ago, adjustable sight 1006 in similar condition. I live in Cali so these sell for a premium price compared to most every other state, I think I have seen similar pistols sell online for about $100 less. I really like the 1006, it has enough size and weight to make the 10mm easy to shoot well.
I thought I would not like the adjustable sights as I prefer the fixed as well, the adjustable sights are really fairly well made and offer a good sight picture in my opinion. I have a handload I like that has a 135gr Nosler moving out at about 1500 fps, shoots like a .38 Super on steroids in my 1006 and rather accurate as well.

Price ranges...
I have bought and sold three 1006 models on GB. Last April or May, I sold one for 550. The last two were 595 and 625. All three were in excellent condition, with no box or papers. IMO, 625 +/- 20 is now the low end

Well, I did it. I went back to the gun shop where the M1006 was for sale. I took along a Savage 24 shotgun I had laying around and never going to use. I came home with the S&W M1006. I got it for the shotgun plus $200. Good deal for me and a good deal for the shop owner. Those Savage rifle/shotgun combos are pretty popular around here. Anyway, I can add a 10mm to my small (yet interesting) collection of S&Ws. I stopped at another shop on the way home, where I saw 10mm ammo in the past. They had some old Federal 180gr JHP (#10C) there for $30/50rnds. I picked up one box to try, and I think, I will be back for more.

One recommendation most of us 10mm shooters share: Reload.
I like the ad sights on my 1006, they allow me to shoot to point of aim with the very widely varied loads available.

good deal
congrats on your 10mm. I paid 575 for mine in near mint cond. I've found a place that has 180 gr fmj @ $18 per box of 50. I use that at the range, but I keep some Hornady premium hps around for home defense. Enjoy

Reloading is definitely the way to go , you'll find plenty of reloading data online for 10MM . Also do forget to post the obligatory pics of your new 1006 .

The 1006 is a great auto. I love the round. It will knock bricks out of buildings. I think any round in that caliber would be a situation stopper. Congrats.

10mm ammo generally goes for a premium price but with not much more than .40 S&W performance. If you check the ballistic for your Federal 10mm ammo you'll find it is FBI lite and not a significant difference from .40 S&W. Hornady and Winchester have some fair 10mm loads but for full 10mm power you'll have to go with Double Tap.
