Default Info Needed On Model 6453

I was in my local "pusher's" shop this afternoon and caught a quick look at a model 6453. It was a full size .45ACP single stack that looks just like an old 645. I checked my Standard Catalog of S&W and found that there were some transitional pistols made for RSR. Apparently they were 2nd gen 469, 645, and 659 pistols that had a fourth digit added to the model number. There are ten variations listed including three for the 645. The rub is that they list the 6450, 6451, and 6452, but not the 6453.

Has anyone ever run into one of this? Also, does anyone have any idea what this could be worth? According to the "bible" only 200 to 400 of each of the listed variations were made.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Frank

I could see it being a 4563, but never heard or seen a 6453. Would be very interested in seeing some pics.

Unless it's unfired in the original box and you plan to keep it that way, it's worth the same as any other 645/4500 in simular condition. Some of the guns had 3rd generation slides where others had frames, basicly to use up spare parts.

I have a model 6452. The only info I could find on it was that it was made in July of '91. That info was received from S&W. Does anyone have any info on this model?

Back in the early '90's I picked up a used 6450 (3rd generation frame like the 4506 with a 645 slide with adjustable sights) with three magazines and no box for a whopping $350. Serial # RSR-002*. It is a wonderful shooter but I was a bit put off by the red ramp front sight with a two dot rear. Since then, my front sight has been modified to a single dot and all is well with the world. Well at least with this transitional pistol and my collection of Smith's.

Here's a photo:
