Default 4566 Grips ??

Are there any aftermarket rubber grips for the 4566 that are smaller than the factory plastic grips??

Short of very expensive custom grips, for the 4566 you basically get S&W delrin, Hogue rubber or Hogue wood. All of the aftermarket grips that I am aware of are noticeably thicker than the oem grips. If the issue is stickiness, I recommend a piece of bicycle inner tube (like the Hogue Handall without the bulk or expense). Most bike shops will give you an old popped tube for nothing.

I don't have huge hands. The gun is comfortable now, but I just think if it had a smaller grip, I'd be happier with it.

Is your grip curved or flat? Mine came with a curved grip and switching to flat made a big difference for me.

Default 4566

mld18-are those curved factory grips what are referred to as the FBI grips, or is that another type? My 4566 came with the straight but I am going to switch to the curved. I was looking for the FBI grips but have not found any listed as such. I was going to then get the factory curved, but ended up going to try the Hogue's first.

The FBI palm swells were only issued to 1076 models, but they would prolly work on any decocker version that S&W made, provided the frame size is identical. With the 4566 you are limited to the aformentioned grips.

The FBI grips were based on the 1076 with frame mounted decocker. They are designed to allow the decocking lever to function between the frame and the grip. The easiest way to identify them is that the checkering is quite different from the other 3rd Gen guns. I have seen people put 1076 grips on 4566's.

Default FBI Grips

Thanks for the picture and info. I had seen the 1076 grips for the frame mounted decocker, had heard that they could fit the 4566, but did not realize they were referred to as the FBI grips, and had not noticed the checkering difference.

I have the FBI Palm Swells on my 4566TSW. I had straight backstraps on the gun when I got it, and thought arched would feel more comfortable, but they were deep front-to-back that it changed my grip angle, when I put the straight backstrap grips back on the felt more natural and comfortable than the arched. I purchased a set of FBI Palm Swell and it made the grip thicker and more comfortable.

How do you like the 4566TSW?I have a new one still in the box and love it ..I have a 4003TSW that I have added Hogue's to and I like the feel..I have ordered a pair of Hogue Goncalo Alves which I have not received as of yet but will let ya know..I also have the S&W Hogues on my 629 backpacker which feel great..Perfect for wet conditions like what we experience here in Alaska..

I just saw that my user name is messed up..Its suppose to be BigBore...Not bogbore..How do I get a hold of a mod?

BigBore, I like the looks, feel, and recoil of my 4566TSW. I've only put through a little over 100 rounds, and am hitting a little low with it. Have to get some more practice in I guess.

Yeah I love all of my 3rd gens..The 4566TSW was one I had been after for sometime.I ended up finding a new unfired *except factory fired* in Nevada..Paid a good amount for it vs. a LE trade in for around 450.00 to 500.00
I plan on adding hogue grips to the 4566TSW soon..I love the feel of them on my 4003TSW..
Anyway I am now DarwinsMistake seems BigBore was taken...Nice to meet ya btw..
