WHOA!!! 3914TSW - PICS ADDED!!!
I picked-up one of these today locally. It's absolutely beautiful! Will post pics tomorrow!
Here they are:
Sorry about all the oil & lint on the surfaces, but the gun is flawless! I think he has one more on the shelf. Enjoy.

Pics added.
FYI. The spent casing envelope indicates a 12-1-09 test firing date. Comes in a blue plastic S&W box with two mags total.

Damn, nice looking. I'm intrigued by the 9 now. I like it in black and thinking if I can find one, a 3914tsw might be the one. Would cozy up nice to the 4513tsw I've got. Did the 3914 ever come w/o the rail?

No rail 3914
3914 did come without the rail back before the TSW series came out. i carried one for a while and traded it for something that is long since gone.

Smith will properly remove the rails on TSW guns on request? Wow I didn't know that.

Ted, have you found the slide release on yours to be incredibily stiff? Mine is stiff enough that I may need some work done on it to loosen it up. With the slide locked open, I can't use the slide release to close it without pulling the slide back first with my other hand.

Indymike,
Your slide release is MIM, and while initially rough, the contact parts will eventually wear smooth.
However, most shooters will agree that it should be treated as a slide lock, and not a slide release. Using the offhand to pull the slide slightly rearward is the method taught in nearly all defensive handgun training. Even if your offhand is being utilized or is injured, the defensive handgunner is still taught to move the slide rearwards without using the thumb. The thumb just does not have the natural strength to reliably overcome the slide pressure.
The lock is held in the raised position by tension of the slide, under pressure from the recoil spring. You certainly don't want to lessen the spring weight, but you can apply a drop of oil to the plunger on the lock itself, just to makes sure it operates smoothly.
If the pistol was to be used for competition, (and it wasn't so rare), you could polish the contact points so that it could be easily used with thumb pressure.

That's typical if the gun is unloaded. Once there is a loaded mag in the gun, the slide release/slide stop lever works more easily. Common to all third gen S&Ws.

When these first came in to the dealer in January, I think he had 9 of them. There is only 1 left. I think that speaks to the interest and the price. And from what the dealer has told me, most were sold to forum members!

Do you know the story behind these? Where they came from? I am assuming a surplus law enforcement order but do you know what state or department?
By the way, I took mine to the range over the weekend and threw a few hundred rounds through it and I was amazed at the accuracy. I previously owned a 908 and a 3913 and this TSW version seems so tight and refined. The double action is smooth and not to heavy and the single action is really crisp with a reset that you can't really even feel. I was able to do amazing groups with rapid follow up shots. It has piqued my interest in maybe a 5903TSW or a 5906TSW to replace my Beretta 92FS...I don't really like the long trigger reset on the Beretta, makes it tough for rapid follow up shots, though the non existant muzzle flip of the Beretta almost negates that.

How is that done and can you recommend a good gunsmith to shorten the reset?

I found one locally today - new - $699.99. Seems high to me - I do like it though! Does anyone know what they should be selling for?

Not high at all. The ones that were available in CT recently went in the mid 700s. Given the rarity, and the MSRP of the gun, 699 is a great price. If you don't buy it, please let me know where it is, I might want another one.

I believe that Cylinder and Slide can do this for you. I simply used a Beretta 92g Elite hammer spring, then proceeded to cut 2 coils off of that. I am not sure where my trigger pull is, but more than 400 rounds later during shooting drills and training ect. no light strikes, and a nice trigger overall.

My local dealer has at least one more of these at $679 plus tax (at least if you're in MN). I swear I'm going to quit going down there if he keeps getting interesting stuff in.
I only get to babysit as this is going to my dad for CC but it's still fun to play with.

Ky Bob: Oh Lord how I wish!
Sadly they're not DAO but after reading how everyone Ooohs and Aaahs over 3913s I have to admit they certainly were on to something. Super cool handful of pistol while still compact.
