S&W 639 problem
I bought a VERY nice condition 639 today at the Billings gunshow and see that the slide lock will not lock back on an empty magazine ( I tried all 12 of mine),
I exchanged slide locks with another gun and no success, I have lubed everything I can think of and nothing is allowing it to lock back. There doesn't seem to be anything blocking it's travel either.
BTW, the original magazine is fine in my 39-2's so it appears to NOT be a magazine concern.
Any ideas fellow forum members?

Does it have a slide lock button staked to the frame? These have been known to twist or be staked on in a bad angle, and won't allow the slide lock to move up easily with the mag follower......

Oh, and one other thing you might want to try.....switch the recoil spring guide rod out and see if that helps, the spring loaded pin on the end of these holds the slide stop in place in the frame, maybe needs a cleaning/lube.......
