I'm way out of my depth here, but here's one I'm starting to
like a whole lot: CS45 w/o BigDog grips. Shoots nice, though.

Posting this for MattC. It is a 4553TSW with the rail relmoved and plugged. Melonite slide, black anodized frame. XS tritium sights. Note the rollmarked slide instead of the TSW billboard.

Thanks, I did have to sell these two, to be able to afford that one. At least the holster that I had ordered for the 4516 still works for the SFF.

Palmetto sharpshooter, where can one get one of those nice squishy rubber grips with the S&W logo for a third gen? Will that fit on a 10xx series?
Did the .45 come with that spurred hammer? Where is MMC?
Some great pictures.

It's a Hogue grip with the S&W logo. I've never seen one for a full-size 45 or 10. No, that one is for a compact 45.
"Did the .45 come with that spurred hammer? Where is MMC?"
I think you're talking to someone else.

meat and potatoes
Here are my 3rd gen .45s. An early 4506, a 4506-1, 4566, and 457. They are stock police trade-ins except for the 457. The only thing I did was to add the Hogue grips.

Maybe it's just me, but there are some fine looking .45's in this
thread. Really enjoyed seeing the different models.

As said they are Hogue grips, and yes the 45xx series also fits the 10xx. Hogue model # 06010 fits 3rd Gen 4500 and 1000 series full size guns with the slide mounted Safety/decocker.

That pistol looks good. I've been trying to find one with the adjustable rear sight. What type of wood is that?

That's Goncalo Alves. They have a lot of different options but they're not always in stock I don't think.

What I carry every day...S&W 4506-1 with three spare magazines and a S&W 442 in an ankle holster. I love the 3rd Generation S&Ws and look forward to changing over to the S&W 1006 in January at the next annual qualification.

S&W .45 ACP pistols? Did I hear someone say, S&W .45 autos? Here we go . . .
First the little guys, from top to bottom, my 4516-2 and -1:
Now a little mid-sized boys, my 4566 and 4576:
Ah, now comes the BIG BOYS, my 645 and 4506-1 Special Order Los Angeles Police:
There you go . . . enjoy.

I found this in February. It was a police trade in, which I added the Hogue grips onto.

My new to me 4516. I'll start EDC'ing this after another 200 hundred rounds or so. I've run about 100 or so mixed bag of LRN, RN and JHP through it so far with no issues. Haven't tried putting the factory grips back on it yet, but I'm seriously thinking about getting some woody's for it, if I can find a really dark set. Great older thread that keeps on giving! Let's see some more 45's!
Liked the 4040PD too, looked like my old one ...... that I should'a kept.

Nice Gwinnetian 4506.
I never knew Gwinnet PD carried guns. I thought they just carried extra ticket books.
