Default Ideas for new purchase 9MM

A new hi-cap 9MM is on my horizon. I'm being drawn toward a Sig 226, but would like to hear comments/Comparisons with S&Ws offerings.
I might even look at a Glock 19, ouch, Ruger, ouch, or even go back to a
P-35, or Beretta. What about the Springfield XD.
I really liked the S&W 6906, wish they still made them.
Any comments welcome.
Thanks
Edt: It would be carried.

What is it for? General shooting? A carry gun?

I've had nothing but good luck with Glock. (gasp!)
With the G19 you have the option of using 15, 17, 19 or 33 round mags (which are great for target, not so much for carry).

I went with the G27 (sub compact .40) and absolutely love it. I have a pinky extension for my carry mags which gives it an amazingly comfortable grip, and a magazine sleeve for 15 round mags which makes the grip feel like a full sized grip which I use for target. They are very accurate and reliable, despite the name calling they receive.

A 6906 is a very nice carry gun. LNIB examples can still be easily found at very reasonable prices. Regards 18DAI.

I bought a NIB 6906 w/2 hi-cap mags right here, on this Forum from RayW, for a great price $475 delivered. I've seen others sold since, for $50-100 more, used.
I was amazed that no one grabbed it before me. Was my first Smith auto, BUT certainly not gonna be the last.

Default M&P 4 inch pro

I just got one of these. Nightsights, 4 inch barrel, 4lb. trigger. 17 round capacity. I put 350 rounds through it yesterday. Its a tack driver. Not close to any of my glocks in the accuracy department. Put one in your hand before you buy anything

There is a 5904 for 315 on the classifieds. It is not mine. There is not a 9mm made that can do anything or serve any purpose that the 5904 can't at less cost, for a longer service life and still retain value.

Why buy any thing else? If you do, you are just buying hype or a name or features that really serve no legitimate purpose.

This definitely goes for Glocks. I hear plenty of people complain about the angle of the grip. I'm sure for some it is an issue, but personally I think some just want something to complain about. I personally like it.

I've shot a myriad of 9mm pistols. I'll have to say the Browning HP and CZ 75 are fine - but I'll stick w/my 5904.

There are well over a dozen major gunsmiths who have made a living off of changing the shape and feel of the Glock grips. There are two companies who make replacement Glock frames because there is so much demand for a Glock-like weapon with a much more ergonmic and comfortable grip. Even Glock came out with the short-frame series and now interchangeable back straps because sales were plummeting due to the competition feeling so much better in the hand. So I am pretty sure the Glock grip issue is more than people just complaining to complain. I am glad you like the grip, a lot of people don't.

Every gun on your list has advantages and disadvantages. Since you are posting this on the S&W forum it only make sense that most people will recommend Smiths, the Sig Forum will recommend Sigs, Glock Talk will recommend Glocks, etc., etc. If you like the 6906, I think you should get a 6906. It is a very capable gun; accurate, reliable, compact and feels great in the hand. Which of course is true for all the 59XX and 69XX series. Good luck.

A GEN 3, or maybe even a GEN 4, Glock 17 or 19 would be my pick. Put enough time in with it and the grip angle will not be an issue at all, it's just a matter of getting used to it. If Glocks don't do it for you, then an M&P. An H&K P-30 would also be nice. If I were going with a SIG, I'd look at a P-228 or P-228, but I would make sure I got an older one (some newer SIGs have spotty QC). Nothing wrong with a nice, used 5903/5904 or a 6904/6906. It's just whatever you prefer and want to pay, any of the above will do nicely. Good luck with your decision.

9mm = Glock

Have had a 17 for 15-20 years I use as a range pistol. Many tens of thousands of rounds. It ain't pretty... but it works.
I also have a 19 with night sights which stays in the glove compartment.

I'd recommend a Sig 226 X5 Competition. I'm very happy with mine. Very accurate, excellent trigger, easy to clean. Also it does not throw the brass all over the place. It just falls by my feet - good for reloading. I do find that it likes rounds loaded at the "hotter" end of reloading recipes.

I just got out of all my Glocks for M&Ps (9fs,9c,45fs,and 45c). My main reason was the finger grooves and grip. The M&Ps seem to shoot just as well and with adjustable backstraps allows my wife to shoot the same guns.

Look at the CZ 75's. They are a great pistol, very accurate and priced right.

The Sig 226 is a fine 9mm semi auto. To my mind it's a bit too large for concealed carry. If the Sig's size is no objection you should also consider comparable pistols in the S&W M&P or Glock lines. Personally I prefer a DA gun without external safeties such as the S&W 99, S&W M&P or Glock17/19. For concealed carry I opted for a Kahr PM-9 which is my constant companion.

You need to narrow down the features that appeal to you. If you really liked the S&W 6906, then you should go that way and buy one, or determine what drew you to the gun and see if others meet that requirement. If you like current production, metal guns you might want to look at the CZ line up. The metal CZ RAMI would make a nice carry weapon. CZ also makes a compact version of the classic CZ-75. I don't know much about Sigs. I'm left handed and find they don't work well for left handers inasmuch as they seem to be driven with the right thumb. I also tend to think as them as single stacked (which I would like for concealed carry), but I'm sure they make some double stack versions. There are many fine guns being made, but not so many are metal, except for the many 1911 variants still in production.
