I'm thinking of buying a 4013TSW...been lookin' at one for a while now.

Anyone have any experience with this model? I know that it's a lightweight frame and because of that, I'm curious how it'll hold up with the .40 caliber ammo.

I've use 3rd gen 9-m/m's and a .45, but not a .40. I'm leaning towards the smaller model because I'm getting close to retirement and this looks to me to be a pretty good choice.

I have one, and it is one of my favorite carry guns (in 40). I have fired quite a number of rounds and it shows no sign of anything approaching wear. I do change the recoil spring every 3,000 rounds (very cheap insurance) and I run the recoil spring at 1# over the factory rating. The springs are available from Wolf and I bought a lifetime supply for very low$.
The 40 is a high performance round from the get go but I have every confidence in the 4013. Mine has an action job and a gold bead front sight which I think makes a substantial difference.
I would shoot yours with confidence-just pay attention to the recoil spring and replace as needed-I think 3,000 rounds is the right place.

I bought one back in March and have about 300 rounds thru it. I simply love it. As you said, its light weight and easy to carry. I highly recommend it. So as they say, pull the trigger and buy it already!!!!

I own one with the Tactical Rail and I absolutely love it. Great gun overall. Easy to conceal, good capacity, reliable and overall a beautiful gun.

IIRC the 4013 was built on the .45 frame with a heavier (thicker) barrel.
A more rigid barrel could make it more accurate than a fullsize. So reliability is not an issue, just change out your recoil spring.

The 4013TSW also has a double recoil spring. I have one that I purchased LNIB, and will be a family heirloom.

Since S&W stopped production on metal framed guns on the civilian side (not sure if they are still producing for LEOs) I am convinced that their value will head Northward!

The one thing to keep in mind is that the 4013TSW doesn't swap many things with the original 4013. The originals were on a 45 compact single stack frame whereas the TSWs' are on a 6900 frrame and are more in common with them as far as size/grips/holsters. They do use a dual spring setup which Wolff does not supply, so you need to get replacements from S&W. I have several Shorty-Fortys that are real close to the early pre-rail 4013TSWs', and really like the size and handling of those guns. I've never been fond of the rails on a carry gun myself, but to each his own.

I have an early 4013TSW produced before the accessory rail. Nice gun. A bit snappy, but that's what you get with .40 S&W.

Oddly enough, while I don't care for the girth of the Hogues on the 59XX guns, I do like the wrap-around Hogues on the 69XX/4013TSW guns, even though the front rubber makes it larger than the unconnected panels on the 59XX guns. Go figure. They do add some controllability for my needs.

I probably only reached 3K on my own 4013TSW, since about that time I started shooting a LOT of .40 through my issued SW99, as well as a series of other .40's I picked up (G27 & 4040PD) and then a new production issued 4013TSW.

I also agree on replacing the dual non-captured factory recoil springs about 2,500-3,000 rounds on the compact guns, but then I like to err on the conservative side of things when it comes to preventive maintenance in the smaller guns which have faster cycling and shorter springs.

FWIW, I rather like the 4013TSW second only to a good 6906.

Holy ****!!!!! 600 bucks for it???? DAMN,,, I stole mine then!!! The dealer I got mine from was in the process of taking it in on trade. He didnt even have it for a minute when I bought it for 389 + tax...

I really like mine, I don't shoot as many rounds as I do in my 1911s, but shoot it often, I think $500 should be the ballpark for an avg. gun.
So go for it, they carry well.
