I would be willing to bet your looking for the 4567 that Grinder mentioned.

that's the finish- but what I'm seeing has a longer slide and a stainless, non-bobbed hammer.
-The gun in question is seen in a couple of scenes of Miami Vice, 5th season, when Crockett's character goes nuts and becomes his alter-ego 'Burnett'. He is carrying what looks like a 4506, but with the blued slide. This is 1988 when it was produced.
The debate is whether is was an off the shelf or a custom gun. The 4506 LAPD has all the scrollwork, which this does not.

Default 745?

I always thought it was a 745. I've rewatched the scenes and most are with the P220. On the two occasions that Burnett used the Smith, one could not ascertain if it was a 2nd or 3rd gen gun. It had the 1s triggerguard and wider frame of the first 4506 but also the 745. I'd say 745 still.
