Model 952, please tell me about it
Is it really that accurate to warrant the price? How is it compared to a 1911 in 9mm. It looks part 1911, part regular single action. It looks like a really nice gun, but the price scares me.

The S&W M952 is the premier American-made 9mm target pistol. Out of the box it is target competition ready, and that is why it commands it's high price.
You can compare it to the European-made Sig 210, Browning HP, Walthers, CZ-75, and such, tuned for competition.
No comparison to the M1911 type pistols.

Well as I have a Browning HP Practical and CZ 75, you think it shoots any better? The Browning HP I have is scary accurate and will shoot better then I can.

Hello, I have owned the 952, SIG 210, X-5, Browning GP and other S&W Performance Center 9MMs. I have also owned quite a few Hi Powers and at least two pre-B CZ-75s. The 952 is, at least in my experience, equal in fit, finish, reliabilty and accuracy to any of the other high end guns I've owned. Although the standard Browning and CZ are nice guns, the 952,SIG 210,etc, have been more accurate for me. That being said, I can only see the superior accuracy when shooting very carefully from a rest. Also, the Brownings I've had, with the BAR STO barrel, shoot about as well as any of the high end guns I've owned. I do enjoy the precision workmanship of guns like the 952, even though, unless shooting from a rest, I can't get close to the accuracy they're capable of. ymmv

I love my Browning. It is the most accurate 9mm I own.
Really do like the looks of the 952. Never seen one up close or of course shot one. So you are saying if I can find one I should get it?

If you want a very accurate and reliable 9mm then the S&W 952 is a great choice. The grip of the S&W 952 is unlike the 1911. It is the same as the grip on a S&W 52 and S&W 39 - hope that helps.
The S&W 952 trigger is very nice but not quite up to the standard of the old Model 52

The 952 was designed to compete in and win PPC matches in the semi- auto category. This includes shooting tight groups at 50 yards. Its only competition accuracy-wise would be the discontinued SIG P210.

I wouldn't have to worry then. I can barely see 50 yards
Max I shoot is 25 and my Browning HP Practical does pretty well even with me pulling the trigger and my reloads.

Are you guys saying that a Model 952 in 9mm will shoot as tight groups as a Model 52 in 38 special?
