Is there a safe and sensible way to convert a 10mm 3rd Gen to a 40 S&W by exchanging the barrel and the recoil spring?

Are magazines interchangeable?

If there were barrels available it would be easy enough. The last thing I heard was a company wanting a order for something like a 150 to produce them. There was a post here for them, but I think they fell way short of getting it done. The 45 spring would work and the mags should as well with 40S&W.

Bomar used to make them. Someone recently enquired about a group buy and was told they would have to have 50 orders at about $150 each in order to tool up and make them. I for sure would have an interest in one. Changing the barrel (and perhaps the spring)is apparently all that is necessary.

Bar-Sto use to produce the barrels but have long since stopped production. We had tried to do a group buy with them but there wasn't enough to do the 50 barrel minimum of one caliber and length.

I actually did get the Bar-Sto (Match Grade) 40S&W conversion for my 1006 way bak in the 1990's and more recently was able to buy new old stock Bar-Sto "Match Grade" 9x25Dillon conversion for the 1006. These have provide some variety from the same pistol platform and have been very functional and accurate.

BTW, these rounds feed reliably from the standard 10mm magazine without any problems.

I real want a 357Sig barrel to go with this collection but that may never happen anytime soon!

A .357Sig barrel for a 4006 would be cool too!!

Why is so hard to make a 40 S&W barrel? If they are already making 10mm, all the have to do is not ream out the chamber as deeply, right?

.357 Sig would be very, very cool, too.

A fifty barrel minimum sounds pretty high, but not impossible. Maybe attempt it again? Solicit at other boards?
