5906, 6906, 4506 Serial Number Set
Just bought these three guns all NIB. The serial numbers are as follows...
5906 DVK0003
6906 DVL0003
4506 DVM0003
They all have the 1st version triggerguard and none of the grips have the dimple on the bottom so probably date from late '88 or early '89. Boxes are marked "Low Number" under features. Were there more guns to this set? Grateful for any other info.

An extremely good looking set........other than the low serial numbers, I wonder if the "Low Number" on the boxes in the features area have any other meanings.

How did you manage to find the new additions with those serial numbers?

NICE find!! By the "LOW NUMBER", it seems you have found some of the very first production 3rd generation autos. I believe there was also a 3906 produced that should follow the same pattern.

They came from a S&W collection that was being dispersed in Birmingham. Prices were quite good. There was no 3906 in the batch. Lots of 2nd and 3rd Generation Smiths NIB. Every one had adjustable sights but the compacts. Would have liked some fixed sighted versions of the full-size models.

5906, 6906, 4506 Serial Number Set
You are likely
Going to have to spring for a factory letter if want better info.
They are IMO some sort of special order. All of the early 5096 3rd gen pistol I have ever seen started with a T..TBA etc. you have a very nice set.
The SCSW calls out the 5906 product code only as Low Serial number. The notes on 4506 says that production likely starred at DVM001. (unconfirmed). But that product code is absent. 6906 no data at all. Any attemt to figure out what they really are, who they were given to or anything like that would be speculation on my part anyway. You say they came from Birmingham. Were they sold by David Carroll? He might have some info if you know him. Good luck and please keep us apprised if you learn more.
Edit: They are very eary production guns: It's specualative but likely Sw set yhose S/Ns aside for someone who ordered them specifically for a specific reason. We know there is a Model 39s with serial number of 39. It was special ordered for a LEO. So these may be something similiar.
Again a $100 for a factory letter for 1 will likely get you info for all 3.

According to date codes:
4506 was October 7, 1988
6906 was October 4, 1988
5906 was August 23, 1988
Pretty neat!

Actually he got to go through the collection before the rest of us customers. Luckily for me he passed on these three (as well as a pre-production salesman's sample 4046) for whatever reason. Probably because there was so much neat and unique stuff they really didn't stand out.
