Has anybody ever been brave enough to have a 1066 converted to DAO?

It just dawned on me that would be the next best 10mm S&W carry gun to a 1036 or a 1053 -- if those existed.

1086s are -- far and away -- my favorite Smith 10 -- and I'm supposing that converting a 1066 would essentially yield a custom 1086 -- as I believe the 1066s and 1086s share the same size frames.

Better yet, would a 1086 slide function on a 1066 -- yielding both a convertible DAO and traditional SA/DA?

But, would switching slides back and forth create conflicting "seating" marks on the frame?

The early DAO models, such as the 1086, have proprietary slides that do not fit on DA/SA frames.

The factory can easily convert the 1066 to DAO, using parts from the newer TSW models. They can leave the safety as is, or replace it with a flush fitting Firing Pin Retainer.

Now you're talking, please post photos when you have yours done.

I was thinking of contributing my request in the "Wish List" section for a 1086TSW. C'mon, who would like to see the "10TACTICAL" banner on the slide?

Rick Devoid was said to be able to convert the DA to a DAO.

Just to clarify, I don't have a 1066 -- but was considering getting one.

I do have two 1006s with adjustable sights that I'd consider trading for two 1086s.

I'll list them later in the appropriate section.
