Default 945 PC - 2000 and before?

Just purchased a S&W Performance Center 945. Based on its serial number, S&W said it was made August 24, 2000.

Looking for info. Does anyone know when the first 945 PC came out? What changes were made between the first model and this 2000 model?

That's a beauty, I have one with the 5" and another with the 3" barrel... but can't answer your question. I do know that the billboard 945 is not on the newer models..

Congrats and welcome to the forum. You got yourself one of the scarce "blackened" variations.

The 945 PC came out in 1998, and a number of variations were produced from distributors such as RSR and Camfour having special runs made to their specifications.

While the 945 has been produced with different barrel lengths, sights, frame material/finish, etc... the internals are pretty much the same.

Mine is one of the variations without the large "945" designation on the slide:
