Question Value of NIB "Escorts"?

Hi, folks,

A friend's father has left him some guns and he is more into "shooters,"
not collectors. Among them are two S&W Escort auto pistols, one nickel and one blue, new in box with papers, etc. I believe they also have a factory pouch or case with each of them. Can anyone give a realistic value
for these? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

John

I don't know the value, but thanks for motivating me to look that up: I'd never heard of this model before. Looks like a neat little piece of S&W history!

Question

John F.:

S&W seems to barely be willing to admit building these.... I can't keep mine working....

But the concept was good, and it's solid. Can't give you a value, but I would think that collectors might be interested.

Mine was a gift from a buddy - it came with a pouch, cleaning rod, and instructions. Goofy design, IMHO, but there's not much to it. Funny thing is that while it barely works, when it does, it's more than adequately accurate, and with "hot" hollow point loads, would be a decent BUG. It's also a LOT more fun to shoot than a P3AT in a similar-sized package. Downside, of course, is that it's a mouse gun....

One of these days I'll pull mine out and play with it some more....

Mines just plain blue steel.... Maybe $200 (if that much) 20 years ago.

Regards,

There are seen NIB with some regularity in the $300-350 range, but I have not seen one sell at that price, so call it $250-275. The one I've fired also would not function - chambers the first round manually from the magazine and fires/extracts/feeds fine, but the hammer doesn't reset, even after cleaning and trying four different types of ammo. Annoying.

Question

Alan:

Mine just fails to eject/feed after a round is fired. Doesn't seem to care if it's low-end stuff or Stingers.... Somewhat random about it. Might pop two rounds and then hang the third etc.

Regards
