Scope mount for 7" Model 41
I just bought a new 7" 41, but because of CA law, must wait ten days before I can take possession. In the meantime, I'd like to get the parts I need to mount my UltraDot LT.
I've searched this forum for photos of mounting configurations and most seem to favor the Weigand. Seems like a well-made mount, but looks weird on the 7" because of the way it protrudes over the sculpted front portion of the barrel. I think I read in one thread that because of the barrel's shape, tightening the front-most screw bends the mount downward unless it's shimmed. True? Can you experienced guys give me the pros and cons of this mount?
I see that Brownells offers a 41 mount made by LPS. I haven't seen a photo of one of these mounted, but I like its locking slots every 3/8", unlike the Weigand. It also appears to be longer; 6" vs. about 4.5". Any experience with this one? Photos? Pros and cons?
I'm in a quandray. I like functionality, but I don't like ugly. Is there a good mount that doesn't look like an out of place afterthought for the 7"? I guess some have bob-tailed mounts when using the UltraDot LT, but I would prefer not to do that if I don't have to. Help, please.

62 Weaver base
Howdy,
A Weaver #62 base fits a factory drilled barrel.
Hope this helps and good luck with your pistol.

Bullseye Gear has a Weaver type mount drilled and countersunk to fit the Model 41 for less than $10 as I recall. I have one and it fits very well.

I prefer the Weaver # 62 base myself, it looks good, is cheap, and works as long as you don't need a picatinny rail type mount.
I used the weigand mount on my brother's 41, and cut off the front section, it looked better that way to me.

Thanks for the info, guys. Cutting off a Weigand is an option I'll consider.

Did you cut off the mount, just wondering how it worked? I am wanting to put a burris fastfire on my model 41 and was thinking about cutting the mount off to the same lenght as the sight. Thought it might look better that way.
