I finally got my BG380 out again today(Been having too much fun with my M&P15-22 lately)and shot another 150 rounds through it.That makes 600.So far,no problems.I concentrated on using the laser sight today and was surprised how accurate it was at 15,30,and 60 feet.Hopefully the back order of extra magazines will be over soon.

Went out to the range over the weekend and put another 100 rounds thru my BG380, up to about 450 now. Not a single problem. Really fun to shoot. I was goruping in a 12 inch circle at 40 feet. Not bad for a small cc gun, I don't think!

Got a call from the factory today saying my new BG 380 was on it's way to the dealer. Had a talk with the gentleman that called about the Bodyguards' problems and he stated it is a small percentage of guns having problems. I told him I felt comfortable carrying mine after 400 troublefree rounds and didn't have it come apart until just over 600 rounds. He said they were aware of the problems and assured me the new redesigned frames addressed them. I hope so.

Mine is also on the way with new frame EAB77&& after being there for 4 weeks and 2 days. Should be at the FFL tomorrow. Can't wait to get it back since I only had it in my hands one day after purchase .

50 rounds FMJ through mine, frame EAB4xxx. Good so far. It was too bright to use the laser but I still got a nice group rapid-fire @ 7yds.
Slide lock pin is still a bit hinky to remove and reinsert, and it took me a bit to find out that I have to hold the trigger depressed until the slide is on all the way (I swear the manual does not say that).
I found a nice, inexpensive DeSantis pocket holster. Simple, effective, clean. I really am starting to like DeSantis. I just got a *** for my 40c and the leather and fit is awesome. I would like to hear about a pancake for it, tho'. Is Dan Cory ready to do one? I like the idea of snap loops on a holster.

Almost bought this today, but decided to do a little reading first...........and now I'm not sure if I should get it. Obviously, it's good the mfr stands behind the product, but like some of the other posts have stated, would sure hate to have the/a failure at the "wrong" time! I didn't notice the serial number, but will check that out and see if it's from a much later production run.

Nice looking work, but what I found on the site is IWB, which I am not a fan of . But thanks for the information.

Look at his blog link and it shows the pancake holster for the bg380 or call or email him about it.

100 rounds so far no problems
Just got mine, SN EAB-62XX. I put 100 rounds of Win FMJ and had no problems at all. About 500 dry fires with snap caps, and everything seems good.

Made it to the range again with mine today, over 750 rounds so far and it is still holding together.Got lucky and found extra magazines at a local gun shop a couple of days ago so I guess it will be good to go for the time being.

100 trouble free rounds on a replacement BodyGuard 380. Original (EAA6xxx) had major locking pin problem. After two months at S&W for 2 separate returns, they replaced it. Their word is good even if it takes awhile. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one with the new frame which has a stronger lock pin spring and a deeper indent in the pin to retain the spring.

I have 500 rounds thru mine...no problems except laser activation..laser was hard to turn on...problem is the button material..take them off and rub the buttons between your fingers and simply replace them..works for me

Is rubbing the laser buttons through your fingers a temp fix or a permanent one? I used BG380LEO's fix. I substituted his Q-tip tube with an ink tube from a ball point pen. Works great. I think it's a permanent fix.

I bought a Bodyguard 380 today. my S/N range is EAE2XXX. got it and a 50 round box of blazer brass for $496 after tax and fees. it was tough taking the BG over the M&P compact. the gun store was selling the M&P for $499 with free night sights. I went with what I thought would be the easiest pick up and carry gun. over the last couple years Ive tried various sizes from G19, G26, keltec P3AT, XD9sc, Bersa Thunder 380, Sigma, S&W 12-4 and Bodyguard 38. out of those I only have the 12-4 left, and I dont carry it often. I think this BG380 is the carry answer Ive been looking for.
Ive seen McCabes holsters and they are nice. anyone have info on more holsters? anything available from crossbreed, don hume, or anyone else?

DeSantis has several holsters for the BG380. I have the Superfly inside pocket and the leather IWB version. I really like the leather one. See my pics at Couple of holster options for BG380

300 rounds through mine
Just wanted to pop on and say (I've posted in serveral threads now about how much I love my bg) i've dumbed 300 rounds through this thing and the only problem I ever had was with Colt ammo...it just got stuck for some reason? So don't buy colt, other than that this gun has been a real sweetheart and makes me feel safe while its in my pocket!

I bought one on Friday the day after turkey day also, and I'm very pleased with it. 50 rounds today with no problems, but the best part is the accuracy. I am much more accurate with this little pocket pistol than any of my J Frames.

I just fired 150 rounds through my new BG 380 ser # EAF1XXX, I'm having mixed emotions. The weapon was accurate both iron sights and laser right out of the box. The gun feels good even in my large mitts. The bad things; I had 1 Fail to Eject (Browning FMJ factory load) and 4 Failure to Load, (1 Browning and 3 Remington FMJ factory load). The FTLs happened because the slide locked open after the ejection of the casing as if the mechanism felt no more ammo in the magazine. Anyone have any ideas? I'm disappointed but will continue to fire some more dollars through the barrel in the hopes of wearing off a burr somewhere. Otherwise, back to S&W. I only have one magazine so I can't isolate that from the problem, maybe Smith will send me another one. I don't mind paying for it but I don't want to wait two months for it either. Anyone near St. Petersburg that wants to shoot at an indoor range, then I could isolate the mag problem.

Hello Everyone... I purchased a BG380 Serial EAA3XXX about 2 months ago and went straight to the range with it, about 65 rounds later the trigger failed to return and unfortunately had to return it to S&W. 2 weeks later I received it back from them with 2 magazines (i guess thats there way of making up for the trouble since i only had my gun for 30 mins before it malfunctioned) since then i have shot about 200 rounds through it and have had no issues at all with the trigger however the laser and take down pin are another story...the laser was already replaced once since it was extremely hard to cycle on and off and the replacement wasnt much better hwoever i took a shot with the ball point pen mod and that seems to have corrected that problem...however on another note the take down pin has fallen out about 3 times while at the range...being a novice gun owner and a clean freak i figured i was over-oiling the gun after each cleaning so didnt think much of it and just started using a q-tip with oil rather then dropping the oil directly on the gun... however yesterday i was at the range and after firing 10 rounds the take down pin flew off again and the slide, barrel, & Spring flew right off the gun and into the range with a live round still in the Barrell wasnt very happy about that... regardless, after the range attendant managed to find all the pieces to the gun i called customer support and they emailed me a FedEx mailing slip and it was picked up today... according to the gentleman whom i spoke to at customer service he assured me that they would correct the problem and do everything in their power to ensure that i was happy however after having 3 different problems with the gun i hope they will either replace it with a newer run model that has all these issues addressed since it is my CC gun or refund my money... I truly love the feel of the gun, i love its accuracy and it is very easy to conceal ( I am in the real estate biz and dress in slacks and tucked in shirts all the time so its hard for me to conceal) but i no longer feel confident with the one i sent back so i guess well see what they decide to do for me...for now i guess i will have to carry my Ruger SR9c... i will def post back once i hear back from S&W.

I have a serial number that's pretty close to yours (EAA19##). If my very recent experience is any indicator, what you're likely to get back is your same frame (which is inside the plastic housing), a new takedown pin, and possibly one or two other new parts. With mine, I received a new takedown pin, a new plastic housing, and a new slide, but I think the latter two (the housing and the slide) were replaced because I requested it, not because it was necessary to fix the problem. You're likely to find that getting the new takedown pin out of the frame is a real bear. But, try rotating it a full 180 degrees counter clockwise, instead of 90 degrees counterclockwise, and it should come right out.
I've been back to the range once since this last trip to S&W, and I had no problems through 200 rounds. Once I get another 200 rounds downrange (hopefully tomorrow), I'll feel more confident about the pistol.

I hear ya.. however, the customer service rep told me to include a letter explaining what had happened and what i would like them to do about it since over the phone i politely expressed a lot of concerns with carrying this gun, since it has had nothing but issues since day 1...
At the moment I honestly don't feel confident that should i be in a life or death situation that it would perform correctly / flawlessly god forbid i ever have to draw it and truthfully i hope i never have to find out...lol so of course he suggested that including a letter would certainly help get my point across and get what i wanted...so i included a thorough letter where i explained the issue and requested that they either replace the gun with a newer latter production run where these issues have been corrected or simply refund my money... so i guess once i hear back from them ill let ya know if the letter worked...

I'm pleased to hear that people are enjoying this weapon so much. I've been looking for one and am ready to 'pull the trigger', so to speak, I just need to find one at the right price!
The gun show I went to in Denver, CO. this last weekend was horrid ... one vender was selling them for $499.00usd!!!! That's just terribly inflated (in my consumer mind, at least)
I'm looking forward to getting one

Once you get past the issues that needed to be ironed out (and, to be sure, there was more than one), it really is a sweet little pistol. The only thing that I am stumbling over is the caliber. I hemm and haww over whether I should be looking for something (or, rather, an additional something) that has a little more "ummph". But, the BG380 is just so darn compact that there are few situations in which it can't be tucked away discretely, which means that I'd have it if I ever were to need it, God forbid.

2nd trip out to shoot the b.g. and at about 140 rnds total the laser stop working I took it back to g.m and about 30 min later gm had replaced the bad laser with a new one. the new laser is alot easier to turn on from both sides so maybe its a blessing after all. the b.g. it self has worked flawless. no f-f or f-e.

No Problems BG 380
Picked up the BG 380 last week. Dry fired to get the feel. Awful long trigger pull. Went to the range yesterday, and put a 100 rounds of WWB through it without any problems. I really like it.

My laser has now failed on me. Owned it for 3 months, it is my daily carry and I have put 250-270rds down range on it. I have already replaced the batteries and it is still dead. Button fix has been done already. Very disappointed in it as I also own a MP 15-22 and have been very happy with it and am looking at a full size M&P .40...but if the BG380 is an indication of quality on the semi auto handguns...I will be selling the BG380 and getting a Sig P238 and looking at a 4th Gen Glock 22

Please don't base the quality of M&Ps on the Bodyguard. I own two M&Ps, a FS 9 and a compact 9. The compact 9 is my daily carry. They both have a couple of thousand rounds through them and they've functioned flawlessly.

I ended up buying a MP 40 FS and love it, glad I didn't base my decision on the BG380. I got the Apex tactical DCEAK kit with the failure resistant extractor and the ram. Those parts completely transformed the pistol.
I have a buyer on the BG, and have replaced it with something else for a EDC.

Purchased in mid Feb '12, EBB serial #, fired over 600 rds so far, and no problems whatsoever. Long trigger pull takes some getting used to, though.

100 rounds thru my EAV. Few failure to fires with PMC, Federal works perfect. Love this gun. Still have a NIB LCP collecting dust in the safe.

Maybe the ammo, but mine jams a lot. Rarely fire a full clip without a jam.
