5906 & 5903 rear sight replacement
hello;
have a s&w 5906 and a 5903. both pistols shoot @4-5 inches low at 10 yards and 25 yards. both pistols have night sights.
easy to replace the front sight with a lower sight, but wish to keep the front night sight and replace the rear night sight. is there a higher rear sight than standard s&w rear night sights???
have not been able to log on to s&w's web sight for any info.
thanks for any input.

You'll have to go with a shorter front sight. The rear sights are all the same, unless you go with an adjustable sight like the LPA.

5906 1911 and M&P sights
Palmetto know anything about interchangeability of 3rd gen pistol
sights (5906 and 1066) with the M&P and 1911 pistols.
S&W cannot give me a definite answer.

Novak's make an adjustable rear sight that will fit and it's definitely higher, but it normally requires a new front blade. You might call them and ask.

The M&P sight won't fit. The dovetail is thinner on the M&P. I'm not sure about the 1911.
Front sights are still available. You'll just need to measure your's then get a different height sight to fit.

I put this Millett Auto Sights - Series 100 Adjustable Sight System. RS22012, FB00019, FB00021, RS22013, RP85006, RP85007, RS22010, RS22011, SW40513, BE00007, BE00008, BF00008, SW39595, SW46904, RS22002, RS22017, on my 5906 years ago and just ordered one for my 4566TSW. They are on sale too. It is a two piece unit, front and rear, in three dot, white outline or plain. The rear sight dovetail is slightly too large for direct replacememt. Instructions with the rear sight tell you to stone or file the bottom of the dove tail until it will drive into place.
The first one that I installed I cut off a little too much material. I built it back up with JB Weld, re-cut it and it has been great. I just don't like fixed sights.
My new 4566TSW shot 2" low and 1" left at 7 yards. I centered the rear sight but was forced to shoot high for a bullseye. 25 yards was even worse. I never tried 50. the gun was very consistent though. Three shots looked like two adjacent holes from a distance of more than three feet.

That is friggen amazing! I just ordered two sets for my 5906 and 4006. I didn't see anything to fit my 4566TSW. Will the same sight fit the larger frame? Not a problem to do a little fitting. The only other sights I've seen for the gen3 guns were about $70. I don't think Millet makes these sights any more, so I'm speculating these are NOS that they are dumping. If these look good, I'll get another set or two just to have on hand.

Well. just what I was afraid of. Out of stock. Out of stock at C&S too. Ever since Bushnell bought Millett I have not been able to find their sights. Suspect they are discontinued.

Well, supposedly I have a single set enroute from Cylinder &Slide. $43 with shipping. I'll leave the other three on order and see what happens. C&S website shows out of stock on these, so if I indeed get a set it may be the last one they had. I'll buy all the $16 sets I can get my hands on. Too bad that Millett appears to be out of the sight business. Plenty of scope mounts and electronic stuff, but no plain ole sights.

Optics Planet still has the Millett adjustable sights for 3rd generatin semi-autos. They are on sale right now and are possibly being discontinued when the stock is depleted. There may be other distributors with some in stock but I had a tough time finding them at Optics Planet.

I spoke to the CS folks at Optics Planet on Monday. They do not have any of the Millett Series 100 sights in stock. The CS rep was hopefull that they could get some more in, but really had no idea if they could or not. Apparently Millett no longer makes these sights, so any that you find are going to be existing stock. Someone has one on Flea Bay for $70.........

I need to call Optics Planet again tomorrow. I think I clicked on the wrong part number. They may indeed have the rear sight, but they cost about $50 including shipping. I like the white outline on the Millett so if I can find another one for the 4006 I'd like to get one.
