Model 41-1 bargin of the century?
$1600 for a Model 41-1 with the .22 short 5 1/2" heavy barrel.
I cannot believe that such a rare gun (barrel length) sold so cheap, well I think its dirt cheep. Anyone else think so?
A really big congratulations to the new owner. If you are here please show it off.

41-1
Sure he did get an excellent deal, even if the pistol did not letter as a 41-1 the conversion kit alone for the 5 1/2 is still worth more than he paid for the compete pistol.

I believe the gun will letter as a 41-1 and think the barrel alone is worth what was paid.

I want a 41, but that is twice what I paid for my unfired 52-1 last year.

YEA!, you are in 52-2 money. Neat little gun, but that is heavy money.

I think that was a steal for that gun with that barrel length. Its one of the rarest combinations for them there is anywhere in a 41-1. I also would love to see pics of that one myself.

If you have a look at the picture with one mag you can see its a .22 short 5 shot mag.
The dealer did not know what they had or it would have been promoted as a rare 5 1/2 heavy barrel.
I have a couple of Model 41-1 registered as 10 shots. The confusion probably stemmed from some of the model 41-1 mags having the 5 and 10 stamped on the side. This one clearly is one of those.

41-1
That pistol serial # A135328 Mine is A135330, Mine would not letter Say's Roy. But I say S&W kept poor records at this time. I wish I had seen this.
4 mags. Early model 41s, LNIB selling around $1800-$2000.00 up, this was a steal.

I know of a few in this serial area.
A letter is a bad indicator for this type, what I call the 6th type of 41-1. S&W did not make many of this type and indications I have it was possibly a few dozen. Only 3 I know of were 5 1/2HB.
I watched the auction for a week with the intention to bid and get back here. 3 days out at $700 I thought it should go for 5 times plus export & shipping and changed my mind. Bad mistake, maybe, maybe not, how high would the winning bidder have gone.

It seems the more we learn about this one the more rare it becomes with the options that came with it. Yes somebody did get a good buy for sure.
