Bodyguard .380 vs Ruger LCP. Anyone here have both

I actually have a LCP ordered that I'm supposed to pick up Tuesday. I'm getting the 3713 with the laser. ;D However, while I was at the gun shop, I saw a Bodyguard. Now I'm really on the fence about which one to get. There are pro's and con's for both. The Bodyguard is going through it's growing pain's just like the LCP did. I think they have most of the issue's worked out now, except for one thing. And that's the absurdly long and hard trigger pull. I don't think that will ever be better. From what I've read, it's much longer, and harder to pull the the LCP. If it wasn't for this, the Bodyguard would be a no brainer for me.

That being said, I'm truly a S&W, but I just can't accept a trigger that hard to pull. So what I need to know is if any of you guy's have both of these gun's, and which one is your favorite. Is the trigger on the Bodyguard really that bad. Is there any way to make it even a little lighter.

The Bodyguard actually is not as bad as you characterize it. It does have a long trigger pull but it is smooth and will get better with use.
 
I have both..the Ruger LCP with the CT laser and now a recent production BG380. In fact, I just shot the BG for the first time today. Just some general impressions.

Size/Weight - the LCP is slightly lighter and thinner. That may be an advantage or not depending on the size of your hands, your grip, etc...Both fit into the same Superfly pocket holster just fine.

Comfort when shooting - the BG has the advantage to me. Its slightly larger grip seems to provide a better surface for me, a little less movement, although I have large hands, so neither is really a "handful." I cut a Hogue Junior size slip-on grip down a little and put it on the BG, which made it much more comfortable to hold and fire. It is hard to do that with the LCP, as the laser activation button would be covered. On that subject, the CT laser on the LCP is instinctive, the BG is going to require some practice to be able to remember to turn it on under any stress. The BG buttons work fine, but do require some effort to press.

Trigger pull - The BG is obviously heavier, but both are smooth enough. Not really fun to work either of them in a range setting, but both would work in the real world. The BG will be an improved piece if we can find a way to drop the pull down a bit.

Reliability - I only shot 110 rounds through the BG - 50 S&B FMJ, 50 AE FMJ and 10 Remington HP. Three times I had a failure to ignite on the first strike of an S&B, each time the 2nd strike set it off. Each time, the fp had left a primer dent, so I think that red coating on the S&B primers may not be a good match for the BG380. No issues at all on the other 60 rounds.

Accuracy - very similar at 5 and 7 yards. The sights on the BG are better for sure, but the lasers on both yield similar accuracy. I felt I was a little better with the BG due to the more secure grip, but the differences were minor.

I am waiting on two more BG mags to be shipped from S&W, so that I can do some reloads, etc...Would love to hear other people's opinions.
 
I have both and IMO the Bodyguard completely outclasses the LCP. First off I find the BG380 much more comfortable to shoot. The LCP goes from uncomfortable to painful after three magazines or so. I can shoot the BG all day long during extended practise sessions. Next the BG has real sights which is a huge improvement and I like the laser and it's location. A lot of people complain about the BGs' long trigger pull but once you're use to it it's very predictable and you know the thing will never go off by accident. All in all I think S&W did a great job with their BG, Guntests magazine dubbed it The Cadillac of micro pistols.
 
Bodyguar380

I bought a Bodyguard 380 about 3 weeks ago, and I find it is really a nice gun. A fellow shooter at the range had the Ruger LCP, and I got to fire it. The Bodyguard is a much better gun. More controllable, better sights, less recoil, and just feels better to shoot.
So far, about 150 rounds thru my gun, no problems at all. I have shot some russian steel case ammo, some pvi brand and some CCI blazer. The gun shoots them all fine.
 
I have them both as well. Ruger is more of a true pocket gun but a good weapon. BG is much better though but I would use a hoster with it. S&W just came out with one just for the BG380-it is nice and is an exact fit.

I actually finally got to handle both at the same time. To me, the Ruger,,,not knocking it,, felt more like a plastic toy. I just liked the feel of the BG better. I'll be picking up my BG tomorrow. :D

i bought a lcp barely used for 200 out the door. i think someone fired one mag out of it and did not like it. shoots fine for what it is. trigger is a little tough but not that bad. my buddy has the bodyguard let me fire it. sights are a little better. gun is a little bigger. out the door almost 400 so to me because of what i paid lcp. if i bought new and paid 300 plus tough choice
