645 notched hammer in 10/4506?

Did I hear somewhere that you can fit a 645 hammer in a 1006 or 4506 giving you half-cock notch?

You did.

They drop right in, an easy parts switch, but the 1/2 cock notch is not needed so long as your firing pin safety plunger is functioning.

I was hoping for the half-cock notch to somewhat shorten the length of the DA pull. The trigger is smooth, but longer than I would like.

shorter trigger pulls

I like the 645 for that reason. you can set it on half cock and the trigger pull is shorter. Also the 1076/4576, with frame decockers have the hammer rebound some after decocking and the double action trigger pull is shorter. Does anyone know if the slide mounted decocker-only models perform in the same way?

Using a half cock notch to shorten your DA pull is not the best idea from a safety stand point. The models with frame mounted decockers like 1076s have more rebust notches for their partially cocked hammers to rest in. If you dropped your half cocked auto and it landed on its hammer spurr breaking the half cock notch the slide's firing pin locking safety plunger would still prevent a discharge, but the guns just were not designed to carry them half cocked. Wouldn't it be a better idea to just practice more firing the first shot DA?

Thanks for the input everyone!
My goal was to shorten the physical pull so that it was comparable (distance-wise) to my P220 which decocks to half-cock. However, while the 645 hammer does accomplish that, there is a cost with the DA trigger (mainly the break). The 3rd gen hammers definitely do result in a smoother pull.
