PC 3rd Gen action Job
I did a forum search and only came across on thread where it was mentioned it was money well spent.
I would like to know if such a service can be done to a 5946TSW? I am looking for a light trigger and to remove the mag disconnect.
Anyone have PC work on a DAO 3rd gen?

if this is for duty or CCW, I would suggest only what is considered a duty action job.
if this is a fun gun....why not change springs for a lighter pull?
make sure you test....as lighter sometimes means you lose some reliability in ignition.
I once had a 4506-1 that I sent back to the PC for a duty action job and it was the smoothest pulling SW I ever had. even better than my PCs.
on SW 3rd Gen, smooth equals to lighter feeling

I intend to use this as an OC and "night stand" gun. I have 5903 that has been professionally smithed with a light/smooth trigger and its 100%. I want to duplicate the 5903's initial DA pull.
I have two striker fired pistols, M&P9 pro and Steyr M9A1, but I am still drawn to the feel and lines the 3rd gens give me
Thanks for your input. I'll give S&W a ring on Monday.

You'll have to confirm it for yourself, but several years ago I was told by the PC that they no longer perform action jobs on the DAO pistols. Not completely sure why, but I have an idea.
The PC did a few for me during the last century, and they were buttery smooth. Before them, I used Wayne Novak. I'm sure he is no longer a one man shop, and his staff may or may not know as much about the 3rd gen pistols as he does.
As for DIY, changing the hammer spring down one lb. or so usually still gives consistent ignition with a slightly lighter pull.
* I seriously doubt that the PC would disable your mag safety without stamping a large warning on your slide. On the good side, the Smith mag safety does not effect trigger pull, like a Browning.

Update.
Gave them a call today and said they will indeed do their action job service on DAO's. Trigger pull could be expected to be 7-8 pounds only. I forgot to ask about disabling the mag disconnect.
Will possible do the service in the near future.

Update.
Sent in the 5946tsw and a 3953 to S&W to have the triggers lightened. When I first called a rep said they indeed could be reliably reduced. Just got a call from them saying they can't do anything for them. I'm kinda bothered how this transpired.
Gonna' stick with my 5903, 6906, & M&P9. Possibly might sell the DAO's

S&W
Did they say they couldn't do anything just for your two or cannot do them for any model?
Did they say exactly why they couldn't touch them?

I was told They cannot do anything to lighten the trigger pull on DAO (either older style or TSW) pistols. I asked why and was told a nebulous reason about reliability.

likely the necissity of removeing the mag safety to enhance the trigger pull. makes a noticeable diff.

I have a 4046. It is a police surplus gun and as far as I know I am the first owner after it was released from the department (other than the dealer). When I got the gun I went to the Wolff, gunsprings.com site and noticed that there were two different OEM springs for the gun. One was 20lb and the other 16lb.
I ordered the 16lb spring and installed it in the gun and found that there was no difference in the trigger pull compared to the original spring. Both springs produced approximately a 10lb pull but very smooth and quite useable.
The 20lb spring probably gives a trigger pull of 11 - 12lbs. I never had a problem with the 16lb spring and apparently the department didn't either.
This is from the site, notice the *** at the bottom:
GROUP A Pistols - Long
For Use in:
39*, 439, 539, 639, 3904, 3906, 3944, 3946, 9mm

4003,4004, 4006,4026,4043,4044,4046***, .40 S&W
*Early 39/ 59 pistols had a 22 Lb. factory spring.
** Some pistols may have short hammer springs
***Some 4046's have a 16 Lb. factory hammer spring.

I ordered a 16lb spring from them earlier to see what that would do. I guess I have my possible result
Thanks for everyone's input.
