New Chiefs Special 45 Pricing and Question?
Found a new unfired stainless CS-45 i have reserved was wondering if 600 Clams is a fair price. It is new in the box, unfired, with the wax paper and extra mag?
Also i have seen some CS-45's with the Ambi Decocker and some with the decocker removed from the right side. I dont mind too much but i am left handed and could use the decocker is this something i can have added on by a gunsmith easily and what parts would i order from S&W?
Thanks Guys

CS 45 Price
The Blue Book of Gun Values stated 100% $660. If i wanted a new one I would get it at that price.

Brand new? I wanted it and could afford it? I would leap, it's not like their making 'em still, or ever will again.

Take it before it goes! Great find. I own a cs45 and a Cs40. Great firearms. To complete the trifecta I would like to purchase a cs9. WARNING: Purchasing S&W 3rd generations pistols can lead to an uncurable addiction! I started out with one and 2 years later I now own 8!!!!!

You lucky guy. I've been checking all the local gun stores and no luck. Grab and go. I must say, I've read (on this forum) for a small 45 they have some recoil and the trigger may not be the best. Just hearsay on my end, unless an owner states different.

I bought it last night, the guy also has a new in the box unfired CS9 and a CS40 looks like from the same collector. He emailed me today and said they were going to the "Warehouse" to pull my gun down and do another inspection and some photos inside the guts to send me to make sure i am happy with the fact that it is new in the box unfired.
I can't wait i'm dying.... Now to sell my Glock 26 OD Green with Robar NP3 to fund this new project. Big Dog grips here i come.
I will post the info on the other guns as soon as my gun ships with tracking, dont want to give away my secret find just yet.

Congrats!!!! Sounds like a very fair price for NIB CS45. They seem to keep going up in value, especially if new/excellent cond. I have all three of the CS's (9, 40 and 45), enjoy them all immensely and have never had a regret about purchasing any of them. You might want to figure out how to snap up the CS9 and CS40 also. Doubt you'll be sorry you did but you could sell them easily if you were.

The other two the CS9 and CS40 are both stainless steel new in the box unfired and are also $ 599.00 i definately do not want them i am only a 45 guy now. I will post the info on where to buy them as soon as i get my 45 shipped. He also has about 200 other guns all from the same private collector who passed away 95% of them are new/unfired. The seller has been very responsive and polite and ships to your FFL insured with a tracking #

You've made a good find. I found a cs45 that came from an actual police chief, it's been fired but looks to be in close to new condition complete with all packaging and paperwork. I'm going to get it next week, if I can sell a couple things. This could be an addiction. I went to buy my first S&W auto Friday and came home with 2 of them, and still feel the need for a third. I look forward to seeing your pics.

you'll know its definitely an addiction when you spend as much time shopping for a bigger safe as you do for the guns to put in it! As I tell my wife though, there are worse things I could be spending money on....she just rolls her eyes but she knows I'm right

I'm certain S&W can do the work for you, their 'smiths seem to enjoy working on the 3rd Gens, I'd give the CS department a call and ask them about pricing.

Glad to hear it's all you were hoping for.
Washington has a five day waiting period now? Or do you not have a carry permit?

I believe S&W will have you part and put it together for you. They also do double action only conversions. You have found a real gem.

That's really a cool and unique look for the Chief. What's up with the barrel, is the whole thing black and was the process expensive? Hope I'm not being too nosey!

CS 45 Recoil?
After being steered to a used CS 45, I got the "BigDog" grips.
I found that the recoil is no worse than a Mil-spec .45 with 5" barrel.
Life is good, huh?? TACC1
(Thanks, Erich!)

Yes it is Birdsongs Black T finish for all the controls and the barrel is all black teflon finish. I specified how i wanted the gun done. It was about 300 bucks 85 to ship it fed ex overnight. I have had all my pistols done with Robar NP3 for 20 years and decided to try Birdsongs finish. I am very pleased with it. i still Love NP3 but now i have a unique CS45 in OD Green !

Awesome looking finish Semper.
How do you like the Green T and Black T Finishes, and NP3, compared to a Melonite/tenifer finish? (besides the apparent aesthetic differences)

Me too! Love the styling, the fact that they're not plastic, the choices and the history - got all three of the CS now, a 4013TSW, 6904, 6906 and a 3913TWS).
The only addition I may seek IF I can find one reasonable priced or unreasonably priced in excellent shape will be a 3913NL.

I have a CS40 with a trigger job done by Teddy Jacobson. Might have 50 rounds through the gun. I may have the box. Anyone advise what a good price on this would be? I have to do some checking around before I'd sell, but would like a few opinions. It's lived in a safe and I've never carried off duty as I thought I would.
