6904 - Heavy, heavy DA trigger
Could use some advice on lightening the DA trigger on a used 6904 I bought a while back. I don't believe the gun has seen much use from the appearance inside and out.
It's by far the heaviest double action trigger of any Smith pistol I've ever owned.
I normally don't like to mess with triggers as I want to make sure they are 100 % reliable, but this is just too dang heavy.
Any ideas?

You might see if Wolff offers a lighter hammer spring for this model since that's a lot of what you're overcoming when you are pulling it double action. The only thing about a lighter hammer spring is that it might not be quite strong enough to set each and every round off. So, keep that in mind if you decide to change it out.

the DA trigger on my 6906 didn't feel real heavy but it felt a little gritty. I dropped a little Militec-1 down around the bow where it goes around the mag and dry-fired it a bunch to work it in and that helped a lot.

since its an older gun....could it have some dried lube to the point where it would affect trigger pull negatively.
how bout a good detailed cleaning.
put quality lube on all contact points.
the trigger pin rotates on the aluminum frame. make sure there is oil on both sides of the trigger pin on the frame.
the drawbar (trigger bar) slides on the alloy frame. make sure clean and has some lube for smooth function.
lubrication on the trigger contact points.
if that does not improve, you can try the spring kit and experiment with lighter springs however the mainspring alone does not provide a true lighter trigger pull....it will also require changing the drawbar plunger spring which will give a better lighter pull but likely at the cost of reliability.
if this is a defensive pistol....for sure a NO NO!

Just picked up a NIB 4006TSW (2006 production) that also had a very heavy trigger out of the box. Some dry firing and a trip to the range took care of it.

I'm having the same problem with an ex-CHiPs 4043 I picked up last month. After about 100 rounds I was using my weak hand trigger finger to help pull the trigger. It didn't effect my accuracy much but made for an interesting grip. I'll try to get some of my Miltec-1 on the bar and contact points to see if that will help.
