Just purchased a used Model 669 (What a nice pistol)
I love the Stainless steel look but think it would look like a
million dollars with real wood grips. Can anyone tell me
if the Hogue wood grips made for the 6906 will fit on
a 669? The Hogue grips come with a screw hole in the
bottom right corner. The 669 and 6906 come standard with
none screwed on grips. I'm just trying to find out if WOOD might work.

I also have a 669 and from what I've learned, in short, no. The 6906 has a completely different mounting system. You pretty much have 3 choices for grips that I've found- the early original grips with a pebble type texture, the later original grips which are the checkered hard plastic, and some hard rubber grips from uncle mikes. I have the later originals and the uncle mikes. I put my originals back on because I thought the uncle mikes made it too fat. I may try to thin them out and hand simple them at a later time though.

As Firespec stated, the grips for the "second generation"; ie 469/669, are a completely different system than the "third generation", ie 6904/6906.

I am going through the same thing my with my 469 right now. I just purchased mine, and HATE the factory grips. I am getting Uncle Mikes rubber grips for it.

Hope this helps....

Are the uncle mikes complete side panels that work with the 2nd gen back strap?

Sorry for random thread bump. Those pics ever make it online? Got a 669 I just got today.

Just saw this thread, here's a set I made for my 469

When looking for wood grips I always contact different makers to see if they do, might, or will produce a pair I would like on whatever model of gun I need them for. You can be quite surpprisd sometimes on what all some of them do produce.

Looks great, gives me a better idea what it "Could" look like. Also another random question, how hard is it to find that lanyard loop. OCD is kicking in for the hole that something once was for this gun.

I'll try that route!

As the proud owner of a 469 with the pebble grain grips, I say yours look great. They don't look as if they were hard to make. Or am I being naive? I know a couple of woodshop students who could be bribed to cobble a set together. Of course, I would have to smuggle the gun to school and I would never, ever do that.

What about carboard cutouts that fit the gun in question. To me as long as you can make them fit you can always Do the finishing work with a Good Dremel Tool. Takes time but what a real nice pair you can design for yourself.

These required studs for the stock screws

Back here again and I have the 6906 grips in the mail for my 469. I'll see if I can figure out when it's in front of me what this means before trying to send a bunch of messages. The pebble grips super suck and look like generic hub caps from Auto Zone. The Pachmayr grips on my old 669 might be long gone.

469 grip mod

You are right the original grips are horrible.

I don't know if this will help.
But i just took my original grips to a belt sander.
I think it makes a huge difference.

Here are pictures before and after.

Still not a fan, the 669 I had came with the newer gen 3ish style off to the side and these installed.

Also what mag is that? 6906?

I had a 669 and explored modifying 6906 grip panels to fit rather than grinding the grip frame. I found a couple of threads on this site where a member did that successfully. I suggest searching that out first before you grind the frame. It’s easier to replace a plastic grip panel than the grip frame.

I agree the stock grip panels leave a lot to be desired, particularly the early ones. Ultimately I traded off my 669 because of the 669’s poor, for me, grips and the smallish sights.
