I recently picked up a SW99 in .45 (Walther P99 clone) and find that I like it quite a bit---anyone out there know how long it was made? Total production? Any comments? Thanks.
The 45ACP version was my first SW99 series gun I bought, as I now have one in each caliber. I shoot that gun as good or better than my 645 or any of the 4506's I have owned in the past. It is a fantastic shooter, one that I will keep. I have the medium size backstrap installed.
SCS&W says that the SW99 was first released in .40 S&W in March of 1999, with 9mm following later that year. In 2003, the .45 ACP with a 4-1/2 inch barrel was introduced. 2004 saw S&W replacing the SW99 with the SW99OL, and the series died that year.
