My Model 1006 10mm Auto
I got today a S&W 1006 10 mm Auto. It is a rare model in Italy.
Here are some photos.

Good job Bizio....are you going to get the 10mm's on your shooting card? or are these just safe queens?
Take care.

Hi SAFireman !
At moment I have in the list of 9 guns I can bring with me to the range the Colt Delta Elite I bought a couple of months ago. I am going to shift it to my collection and add to the list S&W 1006 instead.
Take care you too, bud !

Congratulations Bixio! I wish you all the luck and service I have enjoyed over the years with mine.
The S&W 1006 w/adj. sights, was my first semi auto pistol in very early 1990. I still have it and shoot it regularly with 10mm, and with Bar-Sto Match Grade conversion barrels I also shoot 40S&W & 9x25Dillon. Soon I hope to have the 357 SIG conversion barrel, one of the forum members here has taken on the project of producing some aftermarket barrels for these rugged pistols.
BTW, It looks like a fireman's convention here discussing the topic of S&W10xx...Salute to my Firefighting Brothers here!

Thank you Tracer_Bullet and Shadow1006.
I also own and tested at the range a Glock 20 10mm Auto, which is considered by many people here the best gun available at the present days for 10 mm Auto, the only problem is that I don't like so much "plastic" guns but I love the old ones in solid steel instead.
Great honour to Firefighting Brothers who risk their lifes on daily basis to save our lifes !

The very best of luck with it! Enjoy!
As far as I'm concerned, the Smith & Wesson 3rd Generation 1000 Series are still the best 10mm pistols ever made. I have a 1026 and a 1076.

I went to the range today to test my Model 1006 for my very first time.
I shot at 12 1/2 meters distance (13.7 Yards)
and this is a group of 5 rounds over a target for Compressed Air which is 5.51" x 5.51" size.

was that double action or single action?
Looks like you have a good start....how does it compare to your Delta Elite (assuming that you have shot it by now).

It was single action.
The S&W has a quite "hard" trigger if compared to my Delta Elite but it is very stable in the hads absorbing the strong recoil.
Honestly between the two I prefer this 1006.

I think the gun is affected by a small delay or maybe the opposite, anticipating the opening as we can see by the picture, the firing pin is leaving a footprint across the primer.

Maybe a good cleaning is in order? perhaps a new firing pin spring?

I already cleaned the gun completely with white kerosene removing all the dirt and lubricated it perfectly.
It could be a problem of old firing pin spring or maybe of old recoil spring which is not balanced with the ammunitions I had reloaded.
I had same problem with a brand new S&W SW1911 45 ACP and solved the problem by replacing the recoil spring with a Wolfe 18 lbs.
I will try and replace both spring if I find spare parts here.

You will develope your feel for the take up of the trigger fairly soon with a little practice. Aiming as even smaller spot will show better groups..."Aim small miss small" is the saying. The finer sight picture of the adjustible target sights over the Novak's also help me dial in better groups. My Blue Dot loads also help in the accuracy with various bullets, even my cast alloy 175gr. TCBB and the Devastator 156gr HPBB from Lyman moulds.
I run the Wolff Gun Springs brand 22# recoil spring in my S&W1006. I am probably due to change out my firing pin spring soon as it is still original.
Best regards!

Glad to help out and be of service! The words can all run together with excitement!
During the many years as a professional firefighter and handloader I have an eye for details.

Bizio. You can significantly improve the SA and DA trigger by changing the trigger return spring to a 2.5 lb one and the mainspring to a 16, 17 or 18 lb one from Wolf. If you have no mis-fires with the 16lb spring stay there. If you do try the 17 or 18 lb springs until they go away. I did that to my 1006 and it reduced the SA pull from about 7 lb to about 5 lb. I did some other things too that brought it down to a crisp 4 lb. The DA pull went from way over over 12 lb (my TP scale only goes up to 12 lb) to about 10.5 lb. I also did a few things to smooth the pull too. PM me and I will send details.
I also replaced the rear sight with an LPA TR unit from these guys:
Precision Sales International, Inc.

Hi RGPM1A,
thank you but I think I will keep the model original also for collection purposes as I did with my 952 model.
Very nice your LPA rear sights even if in Italy, being maybe an Italian product they are not much appreciated ... people here prefers Bomar brand for its accuracy.
