I have a recently acquired 4516 (love it btw - incredibly accurate!) but I am also curious about the Sig P239. Does anyone have a picture comparison of the two? I have two other Sigs, a P226 and P220, and they are fabulously reliable so I would expect the same thing from the P239 in .40.

If no picture comparos, does anyone have a side by side comparison of the dimensions? The P239 dimensions are easy but I am having trouble finding the 4516.

Because I am sitting in a hotel room right now, surfing the internet and trying to do a comparison without actually holding either pistol in my hand! It is a good question though and I had to laugh at the initial sound of it. I do have the Sig website handy I am not finding the information on the S&W web site.

The Sig 239 is a very large pistol for what it does. It's about the same size as a 39-2, and a hair heavier. I would get a 39xx WAY before going to the top-heavy sig. It's meant to be their "compact" 9mm, and is the size of many near duty-sized guns.
I dumped my 239 a long time ago and never looked back. (Pricey too)

Before I even read this I was going to say that in comparison to a 4516 a 239 will feel top-heavy, even though it's lighter. The grip will feel smaller and shorter as well. As far as he dimensions, I can't help. I've owned both in the past, they're both nice guns, but there's something about a 4516 that makes it very comfy to shoot.

I looked at a P239 SAS 9mm today. I didn't get it, though it was nice. I think that my 4513TSW is better for for concealed carry. Concealed carry is a bunch of compromises; cartridge, firepower, weight, size, shape,...My 4513TSW (minus the rail) is what I keep going back to now. Now a P239 in 357SIG...I don't know...nah, 4513.

Not really pertanent but I have the 40 caliber P239 and I have to tell you that it's my favorite semi to just go shooting with. As for why, because it fits my hands so darned well that accuracy is automatic. In addition with 2500 rounds downrange I've not had one single malfunction. As for concealing it, it's no problem at all, even under a light T Shirt as long as it's a bit loose fitting and a darker color. Finally, because it's in current production I don't have to worry about shooting the snot out of it, if a spring or other part needs to be replaced, all I have to do is log onto my computer and order whatever I need. Yeah, I'm a fan and it's because of it's positive attributes.

As for the muzzle jump, when I've been drilling regularly shooting a 4 inch group at 30 feet with a .4 second split is easy. If I've been slacking off on my shooting, a .5 second split comes in at the 3rd or 4th magazine. Yeah, that won't set any speed records but it'll usually do the job if your not missing, and it's pretty rare for me to miss at anything under 50 feet.

I had a 4516 and P239 concurrently, I have since sold the 4516 to another member and have the P239 up for sale.
I think the comparison should be between the P239 and the 3913 or 4040. These three are in fact almost exactly the same shape except for the trigger guard and shoot the same rounds. The SIG is thicker through the slide and grip area by about .8”otherwise similar.
The 4516 after all is a compact .45.

Closest I can do for you is a pic of my 3913 with my P225. The 3913 is the smaller of the two.

Of course you are correct, actually closer to .09" than .08" depending on where. My P239 is the same width through the slide as my P220.
