I am looking for a OWB belt loop or pancake style holster for a 4506 with the square trigger guard and adjustable sights. I don't want a duty holster as the belt loops would be to wide. I prefer that the barrel be fully protected and have a thumb-snap, although the thumb-snap is not absolutely necessary. There are plenty of suggestion for the 4506-1, but it is hard to find suggestions from folks who actually have a 4506-0 and a holster that works. I would prefer an off the shelf solution as I don't want to wait six months for a custom holster. I would appreciate the help. Thanks.

Well the search for my holster has finally come to an end. I found a NOS SAFARILAND Model 2, B29 in tan with a retention screw that was designed for a 645/4506. Perfect fit. Thanks for all of the great suggestions and help.

Id look for a Sig Sauer P220 holster. I have a 4506-0 with a curved backstrap and square trigger guard, and after trying every IWB holster in the store the winner was the Sig 220 type Galco holster.I know you need an outside waistband holster, but the Galco IWB definitely works as an off the shelf solution.

OWB carry I use a worn Blackhawk size 5 nylon holster, but I need a decent jacket to pull off concealing it.With the Galco IWB ive worn business casual attire w/o a jacket and concealed my 4506 easily.

Somebody would more knowledge on the various Gen 3 semi-autos would have to answer that question. It would be great to know. Thanks for asking.

I have both the 5906 is not quite as wide My 4506 will almost go in but not quite.
I have been looking for one myself

Beretta 92 holster is real close, (Bianchi used to list this holster as the fit for 4506). Sig 220 holster is too short, 4506 is larger & longer than a 5906. As you can see this holster was for a Beretta 92, I remolded it to fit my 4506 exactly, only takes about 20 mins to do.

You might check with Gould and Goodrich. I have a pancake style holster made by them for the 645. I can't remember the model number on the holster and I do not have it with me right now. I had a spare one but gave it to another forum member some time back who was also looking for one. The holster is wet molded to the gun and fits like a glove. It has a thumb snap but does not really need it as the holster fits so well to the gun.

This holster should work just fine with the 4506 and square trigger as they are basically the same dimensions.

Any tips or tricks on how to remold it to fit a 4506-0? I know all about baseball mitts, but not holsters. Thanks.

FIST holster

I had a FIST built for my 1076 that has the rounded trigger guard. When I ordered the holster they suggested a 4506 holster as they do not offer one for the 1076. They did ask when ordering which trigger guard the gun had.

They do build a quality product I've been using one daily for nearly 20 years.

HOLSTERS

I just got a Don Hume H721OT holster for my 1006 (I know round trigger guard) but they do list it for a 645. Very nice holster for about $50.

Some here say you shouldn't do this, but I've been doing it this way for 35 years. First soak the holster in hot (tap) water for about 5 minutes, until the leather is saturated. Then, dry excess water in & out using paper towels. Insert gun in holster, & using a SMOOTH toothbrush handle go over holster detailing holster to gun. When satisfied, leave gun in holster & allow to air dry for 12-24 hours. Remove gun, clean & dry it, & allow holster to completely air dry. When it's completely dry, I spray the inside of the holster with silicone, soak it pretty good, then jam the gun in & out for a minute or two. Allow to dry again, the silicone will dry quickly. Now finish off with either neutral paste shoe polish (I use KIWI in a can), or the liquid leather dressing some holster co's sell (I have a bottle of Bianchi dressing I've had forever). The holster I posted was done about 20 years ago, I don't see any negative effects from molding leather this way. Oh, & the silicone treatment makes for a slick draw from the holster. The actual process of wet-molding only takes a few minutes, all the time is in the air drying. Good luck to you, sir.

Where did you get the holster? The one shown in picture #2 is for the Beretta 92? I have the 4506-1 round trigger.

Numrich gun parts corp sell ex leather duty holsters with thumb snap. They fit 5906 1006 and 4500 series 3rd gen smiths as well as others. I use mine for my beretta 90-two and all my smiths second and 3rd gen. with round and squared trigger guards. for the full size smith just remove the scrwed in bushing at the barrel end of the holser. best thing is, they are only $11
