Guy up the road an hour has a 1911Sc round butt model for sale that he is listing as NIB. Here is the question, the slide is the BIG 1911Sc marking with the atom beside it. I was not aware that these older versions came in round variation, did I miss something or am I correct in thinking that it was not until S&W released the E series that the round butt was introduced. Good looking gun so may be worth the drive to look at anyway to pair up with the full size.

I had the 1911Sc with the large billboard w/ atom, and did a lot of shopping around for one when they were first released to find the best one. I never once saw one with a bobtail. My memory of S&W's releases matches yours...as far as I recall, there was no bobtail 1911 until the E Series. I have seen a few of the earlier models bobtailed after-market by their owners, though...I have to think that he is wrong in his NIB designation, and that it's a L(ike)NIB used model that's been modified.
