Pawn shop find - S&W Model 6453
I thought I would share a recent GB buy from a local pawn shop. Smith & Wesson model 6453. The only difference I can find from my Model 4506 if the "red" dot safety indicator. The 6453 has it on the slide and the 4506 has it on the frame.

Thanks for sharing. Nice looking pistol. Is that fairly rare? I don't see that model number mentioned much.

I believe this model is a transitional model when Smith & Wesson was changing from the 645 to the 4506. About 177 where supplied to the RSR Group. I read that S&W was trying to use up 2nd generation parts, however, this model has no 2nd generation parts that I can tell. If anyone has any more information, please post.

Smith & Wesson Model 6453
I purchased this S&W Model 6453 around 1990. It has been fired very few times. The magazine got misplaced during my move to Tennessee. Any recommendations where I can purchase replacement magazines?
Thanks,

Nice guns, would love to have one to fill a niche. If either of you get the itch to sell, than I 'm your man. Thanks for sharing. If the OP wants to share his serial number with me, I'd be much obliged as I have my own database of these. Feel free to send me a PM, if you want. If not, no worries as I have a pretty good idea where it falls. Again, thanks for sharing guys.

Nice find! I've been on the lookout for one of the RSR 645* to add to my collection.

rkpound,
Any magazine for a 4506 or the other S&W 8 shot variations will work fine in your 6453.
