My custom 1013, pics and range report, and a big thanks to Bad Man 1
Assuming eveyone has followed the 4013/1013 thread, I just had to have one. After contacting BM1, I started my search for another 4013, as I wanted to keep mine as is, and convert one to a 10mm. The project gun was aquired and the plans were layed out. I sent the barrel and 3 mags to BM1 for the conversion, and I took the gun to a cerakote installer in town. I did the frame in gun metal gray, the slide in graphic black, and left the decocker, trigger, slide release, hammer and mag release natural colored. I am very pleased with the results Hope the pictures show how nice it looks.
Took it to the range today. Fired some 40's through it with the barrel from the other gun just to check things out. Then I started with my reloads and the heavy spring. The 5.4 grains of W231 would not work the slide with heavy spring (23 lbs). With the factory 40 spring, the brass landed at my feet. Very timid load, but accurate
PS All targets are from 30 feet, and I removed the buffer. I did not seem to have any contact without it, and function was better.
Then I tried 5.7 grains W231, with 40 spring, and brass was about 10 feet away, but not as accurate.
Then I used 5.7 titegroup, 40 spring. Nice load, brass about 10 feet away.
Then it was 5.9 titegroup, heavy spring but no inner spring.
Then it was 6.3 grains WSF, heavy spring with no inner spring.
Then I went to what I was hopeing would be the best, and it was. 6.9 grains WSF, heavy spring with inner spring
This load really is amazing. Recoil is minimal, muzzle flash is very low, and accuracy from a 3.5 inch barrel at 30 feet was way more than I expected. Next try will be this load, or 7 grains under some Hornady 180 XTP's.
The last try was some factory rounds. American eagle and umc 180 grainers. The AE wasn't bad, nice round. The UMC was quite a start LOL. Anyone who likes bark, with LOADS of muzzle blast, this is your round. Accuracy from both was very good.
All told, I am extremely happy, and ready to perfect the loads and hit the range again. I believe this may be the perfect carry gun. Thanks again to BM1 for his effort, and his knowledge. I really look forward to exploring some other options when he gets time.

That is a really neat idea that was well executed. Not that you need my approval, but you have it. I'm a little curious how the slide will hold up with age. The springs and the buffer may make it last longer.

Conversion
The conversion was all BM1's idea and brains. I was just happy to get the fruits of his labor The only part that was my idea was the cerakote

Really great!
I can't wait for BM1 to be able to supply barrel & springs for my 4516-2 to 1016 conversion.

No, never did, and shortly after that, was diagnosed with cancer. That was when Hairs helped me out by buying a few of my toys.

Sorry to hear about the cancer, as we speak my wife is battling pancreatic cancer, so I have much empathy for you and your family and will include you in our prayers.
What is your prognosis? If you care to discuss that is.
Good luck and may God bless

cancer
Mine is also pancreatic. Did 13 rounds of chemo over 28 weeks. My ca-19 was 461. 35 is elevated. After the chemo, it was down to 17. With that, theyfelt it wasn't spreading, so I did 5 weeks of radiation, 5 days a week. I finished that on March 19th. After all that, it has been stable since. Dec. 10 will be 17 months since I found out. Not bad, as national average is 60% less than 6 months, 30% make it a year, and less than 9% make it 18 months. Find a good doctor, do as they say, and pray. God does wonders.

Cancer
Glad to hear you're doing well,God does indeed work wonders both through prayers and the talented medical people He blesses us with.
My wife's was discovered in a scheduled scan as a follow up to her breast cancer of 5 yrs back. Her oncologist sent her immediately to Mayo in Rochester .The plan is to shrink the tumor with chemo then a round of radiation followed by surgery to remove 2/3 of her pancreas. That will leave her dependent on insulin, a small inconvenience comparatively.
