Default Ordering a New M 41

Having looked for a good used M 41 with no luck, I decided to order a new one. My local gun shop could not give me a clue as to when it would be. My question is how long does it normally take these days for certified SW dealers to get them in these days. My understanding is that production of the 41 is low volume and my gun shop has not had too many orders for them, that is why they could not even estimate how long it would take.
I called SW to try and get info and they could not help at all. Seems to be part of the collectors mystique that surrounds this historical gun.

By the way, this is my first post.

Also, am I making a mistake of getting a new one? I have seen used ones on the internet, but I am very put off on buying something I can't inspect and a new one would have a fantastic garantee from SW. Thanks for reading this and any insight would be appreciated.

here in houston we can get new ones fairly easy. i would look for one of the older ones myself. nothing wrong with the new ones, but they don't have the fit & finish of the older ones.

Thanks for the response. If an older one showed up I would not hesitate for a minute. There are quite a few on the internet, what are your thoughts on going that route.

Maybe I will get lucky at the next gun show, there is one coming up soon.

I been searching quite a while for a Model 41 for the right price/condition and got really lucky and picked up this used one with only a few hundred rounds through it and the owner had bought it in Feb of this year. He was getting out of shooting due to medical/surgical issues and was selling off his various guns.

I never had an older one to check out, but this new one seems high quality and so far I have no criticisms about it at all; actually loving it.

I would and have gone the older 41 route my experiences with the new Smiths has not been good.

I regularly buy thru Gun Broker or Auction Arms but will not even look at offerings on Guns America.

Two important rules when buying on auction sights make sure you have return privileges and only deal with sellers that have a perfect rating.

I passed on a HS Victor as the seller with hundreds of transactions had a few negative comments I read them asked the seller for an inspection period which he denied I passed stating the reason. A week later I found one on the same auction sight in better shape and less money. Patience also pays off.

First of all, welcome, Kinfolk!

I don't have an old 41, but I do have a new one, bought new a year and a half ago.

After the first 100r or so, it has run 100%, and is so accurate, it makes me look like a good shot!

I wouldn't be afraid of a new one, from my experience.

Thank You! I just got a call from local gunshop and they located exact gun I wanted brand new. I figure with new, if there is anything remotely wrong with it, it goes back to factory.
Should be in late next week. Thanks for all your responses.
