Bodyguard 380...

Bodyguard 380, +'s and -'s. Good, great or not so good, great? Thinkin' about one for my wife who is tired of her EDC Sigma. She say's, "too big, too heavy".

Pluses are certainly the build quality - a real 'little gun' - ergonomics, ability to take it to the range and practice with it, weight and concealment. The laser is a plus but I don't use it.

Minus would be, for me, the long trigger pull, lack of holsters used to be but that is changing rapidly.

It's a fun gun to shoot, couple that with its weight and concealment capabilities you'll always have it on you - biggest plus of all.

I love my BG380. The long trigger pull takes some getting used to but practice makes it better. Building up my hand muscles helps too.

I held the diamondback 380 and it felt good in my hand too. I decided on the S&W because I own others and the working are similar. Field stripping isn't very different between the models. I carry mine a lot.

I wonder though how the laser would hold up if I dunked it canoeing, boating, heavy rain while hiking...

I had an issue with the laser on my BG380. After a few hundred rounds I was unable to sight in the laser who knows maybe I did something. Called S&W, no questions asked sent me shipping label . Two weeks later it came back to me no charge and better than new. The laser is now brighter and much easier to activate.

If you want this size/type of handgun the BG380 is a good deal in my opinion.

Bought one for the wife several month's ago(hoping she'd give up her Mustang)....she shoots it regularly and dispatched a couple of snakes and an armadillo w/ it over the summer. Difficult to catch her w/o it lately and the Mustang now is on my belt most of the time.....

Got one about two weeks ago, cleaned/lubed it, shot about 100 rounds, mix of Blazer Brass; Black Hills, and Buffalo Bore +P (just six rounds - BB works fine and is my carry ammo - not putting that powerful and expensive stuff through the gun regularly though). Not a hiccup...no problems, nada, none. Trigger took some getting used to, but I read that after about 500 rounds, with cleaning, oiling and dry-firing, it smooths out. Didn't find the laser useful - no problem there as it shot where I pointed it. Safety is easy on-off. Just ordered a pocket holster from Remora - the 2A-ART was the one the owner kindly recommended (not the re-inforced version). Absolutely pleased with this little pistol- much more so than the Ruger LCP I bought when they first came out, shot a hundred rounds thru and then sold - didn't feel nearly as solid as this S&W...but that's subjective. Not a range gun, obviously and probably can't take the pounding that goes along with that. But I figure, it's always in my pocket, light, reliable and once a month I'll put a few dozen rounds through it.

I have been looking for a 380 compact for the last couple of weeks, out of the final 5 I selected the BG380 for the following reasons as it was the most expensive of all, it feels good in my hand, the safety, sights, laser and it's a Smith & Wesson. Looking forward to shooting it!

I don't intend putting a thousand rounds through it, I have target pistols for that, but I have gone to the range a few times and put a few clips through it. Have had no issues with it and it very accurate at around 7 yards. All shots grouping in the body mass area. Have an inside waist band holster and an ankle holster, both hide the 380 real well.

I bought a bodyguard 380 a couple weeks ago. It is a great shooting little gun. I ran 150 plus rounds through it with no issues. I adjusted the laser prior to the first rounds shot out of the gun. The gun shot right on the target bulls eye with the laser on. Trigger pull is a little long, but I had no problem adjusting the trigger pull. No further adjustments will be needed.

In my opinion this is an exceptional conceal carry firearm, due to the ease of conceal ability. I carry Hornady critical defense rounds in the gun along with 3 spare magazines, and I hope never need the gun.

I've had some minor issues with the two I've bought but they've been simple issues to solve and the S&W customer support has been fantastic. This is a gun you can really fall in love with, after break in, with some patience these guns fire amazingly accurate and reliably. It would be great if you could test one our or examine them closely. Especially check into the hornady critical defense ammo and the online testing of it. The feel and trigger, overall features of the Ruger LCP did nothing for me after owning a BG380 for a while, hands down the S&W feels much more like a real gun and just flat out performs with holes where you want them. Fits my wifes hand and the slightly simplified set of features and safety work really well for someone that doesn't like semi-autos, like my wife. I've had mine amost a week. The trigger pull is long and a little heavy but I like it. After a couple of mag fulls I shot it pretty well. It is a great gun. Solidly built. Great to handle. I like mine and it is always in my pocket in a DeSantis holster (Model U7).
