I compared my stainless Delta Elite to the (new to me) S&W 1006, by the way, I do think it was new, there were no wear marks any where and no powder or fouling, no oil either before I shot it.
Anyway, the Colt weighs 2 lb. 7 oz., the S&W weighs 2 lb. 9+ oz.
The slide is thicker on the S&W but the frame is thinner than the Colt.
The grip is thinner on the S&W by about .2 tenths of an inch, side to side but is about the same length front to back.
The frame is deeper on the S&W and the sights sit higher but I didn't try to measure it.
The height and length of both guns are about the same. I took some side to side pictures of them together and other than the deeper frame on the S&W, they look much the same.
Same white, three dot sights although the Colt is non-adjustable and doesn't need them, their perfect as they are.
I like the feel of both of them.
I didn't buy the S&W to carry, I bought it because it is arguably the toughest 10 mm on the market and I reload for it although I have never had any problems with the Colt at all.
I mean, the S&W was just sitting there in the display case and it was calling my name, what else could I do?
BTW, I think the S&W is a far better 10 mm or .45 ACP than the Colt Double Eagle. Just My Opinion.
